I support se in this decision and hope that the worst is behind Japan. I agree with the previous posts, if you honestly are this outraged that you won't be able to play XI, go in and uninstall the game so I'll never have the displeasure of meeting you. I would also like to say - people wishing ill on other people, telling them to go off themselves and such is fairly morally repugnant as well. Personally i am not only venting but also voice myself to get this tool ban of the game.

In general,

If you have any hard feelings about shut down you should kill yourself instead of making other people tolerate your exsistence.

If you are complaining of not having anything to do maybe should try making some friends or connecting with family and leave FFXI alone alot longer than a week.

A week is just the estimated time and it can extend longer just sayin to all those who seem to be hurt by the week it could be longer. Its just a GAME, you know FANTASY.

As far as ingame item to help with donation for people who cant do it any other way i think that would be a awesome idea. Comon SE we all want(or at least most) flag for MH.

As and far as faith in humanity.... I havent had any for a longtime, so this post doesnt drop it any. Ignorance is the least painful of the things humanity does to dissapoint me, so i have to very much agree with that part that someone said earlier. This is not to be confused with saying there are no good people in the world, its just sayin when lumped together they aren't enough to raise faith in humanity to 1.0.

I hope people take the advice.

To a lot of us, this is not easy. Some of us aren't lucky enough to have family. I don't know about everyone else but all my friends play World of Warcraft and hate FFXI. I'm the blacksheep of the friend circle cause I hate WoW and love FFXI. lol

we actually had a massive arguement in port jeuno on asura about this an hour before servers went down. some ppl are insesitve and very offensive. i will not name names but lets say they were so offensive that 80% of ppl in port jeuno made gms calls. infact there where so many that the gms couldnt even respond in tells. i got a messege saying that there were so many that the gms would have to handle w/o talking to me in tells. some ppl need to take thier heads out of thier rears and look around. the world does not revolve around you and your play time. there are ppl in japan that are dead and dieing, dozens of cases if not hundreds of cases of radiation posioning, possible multiple nuclear meltdowns, ppl in need of hospitals, and shelters. alll u care about is ur play time. ppl like you should be ashamed and SE should delete ur accounts when servers come back up.

If a week without FFXI is going to cause a personal armageddon, you need to sit back and reevaluate the way your live your life. Japan is going through one of the worse crisis in recent history and you are worried about not being able to play for a week. As far as I'm concerned, they need to keep the servers and related services/equipment down until they have enough electricity to properly serve them in addition to the emergency services and medical facilities that need the power more. Jerk.

The company I work for has, on more than one occasion, reduced electrical usage and even shut down if requested by our power supplier in order to prevent brownouts or rolling blackouts. We tend to look at the bigger picture.

No negotiating power contracts. We pay the electric bill when it comes in no matter what it is. We use a lot of power but not enough to justify negotiating rates. I wish we could, but we can't. The thing that really kills us with the power bill is the fuel adjustment charges that go up and down based on the cost of the fuel needed to run the generators at the power generating plant. If we don't pay the bill, they turn off the power.
