Americans make some very good movies, and part of the reason we do that is we don't see ourselves as the only talent in the world. We go global and recruit the best talent out here and dont' get bogged down in meaningless differences like what country you were born in. Some of our very best actors and actresses come from other countries for example, and that's why so many of our films are awesome and so many of the actors and actresses living in California are foreign-born. I think actors and their agents choose movies that ultimately belong to the actor's choice whether to play in them or not, and that defines their personal career. But they don't represent American film making as a whole.

Anyway back on topic - I actually enjoyed Advent Children - The copy I had was in Japanese and did not have subtitles so I had no idea what it was about - however I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
Apart from that - yeah Video Games made into moves usually reak and make the video game look bad. (Tomb Raider being the exception of course due to the above reason). -

It's plot - while not bad, isn't exactly stellar either - and would be very difficult to make into a movie. But, if such a thing would be attempted, I would suggest focusing on the shadow lord as the main villain. He is by far the coolest bad guy on the game.Quote:

I don't think FFXI's story is well known or admired enough to be fiscally viable. However, one day we will lose the ability to revisit FFXI's story, and FFXIV's story. Any of the other games I am able to revisit, but one day the server's will go down, and the land of vana'diel will be silenced forever.
I wouldn't mind them conserving the cutscenes, so that those wishing to revisit the storyline are able to do so. -

An interesting plot in a video game is very different from an interesting plot in a movie. Honestly, I don't think that it would be possible to fit the Crystal War plot into two hours, too much interesting stuff that they would have to cover between what was going on in the nations and the northlands.
But it would be amazing to see Fenrir summoned on the big screen... -

i think FFXI could become a decent movie(CGI of course), if not good , if they
1. dont do like resident evil and invent a story line that has nothing to do with the game.
2. Like SF not use moves and abilites the people are waiting to see and/or change backround history.(example making shantoto say a hume from sandoria XD)
3. Like Avater: last airbender let M. Night direct it
4. Like Harry Potter try to fit extreme amounts of story in a 70min movie, and think people will be satisfied with huge cuts, big breaks in story and jumping from place to place and leaving the veiwer dumbfounded.
These movies werent fail because of the object they were based on, they failed because of the director's vision/story writers. With Spirits Within they opened the CGI door: wasnt great but the CGI looked awesome. Advent Children was for FF like for obvious reasons, CGI looked great and story line was OK coulda been better. soo FFXI movie should be the next step up they already have story and checkpoints just need to fill in blank. What lead up to he start of the opening, what happend during the perios in between so much room for a movie maybe even 2. -
