FINAL FANTASY XI Test Server

I'm still trying to download the other 3 parts of the client so I'll probably just work with it tomorrow......

bew... ineligible for the Test Server at least for now, since I don't have MKD or ASA.

It gets better: there is a version update that needs to be downloaded as well.

I do find it kinda amusing that so many that were against joining the official forums and signing up for the new payment system did it within an hour of finding out they had to just to try out the test servers. Goes to show I guess, you can get people to do what you want if you find the right bait.

Ammuntion for Square in the future I guess.

cant figure out how to change the games resolution in the test servers .exe making my head hurt...

Actually.. my boyfriend was able to get into the test server without having to transfer his account for the new payment method...which is rather confusing.. was there an earlier chance to sign up or might this be a glitch?

Edit: Well I confirmed it is indeed a weird forum glitch.

I just got home and I'm sure this has been asked already but I still need to know. When they mean copy your character does it mean you will still have the original on your server, and can you still play on your normal server or will you be limited to the test server?

Yes, of course you can still use your character on the normal server ^^;

Good question... i have no idea....that would be kind of silly you couldn't switch between both. since They're not tied together in any way

Someone mentioned this earlier and it seems to tie together..... I haven't seen a 3 yet. At first i kinda thought 0 meant you didn't apply (or got accepted) to the test server maybe it has nothing to do with that....but weird to add it at the same time for it not to be

Since it shows that regardless of whether or not someone's accepted to the test server, I think it's a case of they've rolled out part of an update to the forums without finishing it that shows everyone's home-nation allegiance.

And thus we solved the mystery of the town numbers. Why San d'Oria is the first one, Bastok is the second, and Windurst the third, I don't think I'll understand, but perhaps it has to do with my dislike of San d'Orian architects and city planners.

That could be...but why make it as a code....why not just say where they're from?
Or better yet.....on the setting screen....have it force you to put a nation lol

This is why I said it's not finished: currently, all they're doing is pulling the field from the character DB that keeps track of nation-of-allegiance, but they haven't put in the "convert it to a city name" portion yet.

That works :)

After all downloads do you have to unzip the files or will they are auto unzip?

i believe that having XP and drops is necessary in the test server for 2 reasons. they have to test limit break for bugs for one

second they must test to see if the new battlefields (ksnm's) are working properly so must include drops i would think

same with voidwatch 2 new nm's and dynamis area revisions have to make sure drops are working properly

please invite me to the test server? sounds like fun.

Drops are easy to test, I doubt they will add any. I'm sure people can say if there are though by now.

Think the files are listed after your application has been accepted.

EDIT: If the character you wanna test is not on a level 90 job, the application may tell you that you don't meet the requirements. Just log back into normal ff11 and change to a 90 job ^^

What could those three cheap add ons possibly have that requires us to have purchased them? Was there any new zones? I'll be waiting for your answer. Until then, you know what I think? I think they're just being eff'n cheap.

To be fair, if you are asking to beta test then you should have the full product. Having said that I do think there is a certain amount of "lets see if we can get them to buy the new full pack...lol" and they will get quite a few sales looking at the popularity of the test server I think.

It's basically XI with a gameshark for many of the...lets say really really casual players (kind of people that don't even have atmas yet, let alone the best gear), they will never want to leave. It's being treated less as a test server and more as a playground akin to old PSO with a gameshark.

I was thinking the same. Unless they need me to test if the new ability also works in the ASA final battle, why would I need the expansion?

I think it is just a general "We'd like to invite testers and never encounter the case - Can't test the new stuff, don't have access - from people taking up testing slots".

It just happens to mean some will buy the expansions and give SE extra profit, but it was hardly something they counted on.

Well from a testing standpoint I can see that it helps equalize the field by making sure everyone has the same content data installed on their machines. Aside from that, I can also see that it insures that those who get to participate in the testing are those who went ahead and purchased the entire product. They ARE a company whose purpose IS to make a profit you know. If this bothers you, I don't know what to say.

It isn't like they are charging you extra to have this additional Content ID on the test server you know. THAT would be a money grab.

When you apply your character does that mean I will not be able to have my character back on the regular server? Will I be able to play on both the regular server and test server?

Does my character get transfered over to the test server and will no longer be able to use her on regular server forever or temporarily til the test server stuff is over?

I hope I'm making sense lol
