Honestly, with the way damage is now, it's not realy all that simple to tell what resulted cause that spike or if that was even a "real spike."
And honestly, if one line of text is spam, just how many filters are you using? SE is quite fond it seems of superfluous changes.
What? How is it not simple to tell what caused a spike in damage for nukes? O.o The formulas are easy, you get either full damage or a resist of varying degrees (1/2, 1/4, etc). Unlike melee damage the damage done with nukes is constant. If you do damage above your maximum (no resist) then it was either a magic crit, or a day/weather proc (and most mages nuking will have an obi/twilight cape/BLM relic legs for the most used spells, thusly controlling the day/weather procs). If it's lower than expected it's either a resist, or a proc on badly-alligned day/weather. The only time it might be hard to tell if you got a magic crit is if you get a crit on a resist.
Regardless, I'd still like to see it added. No real reason for it to be added, honestly, but I'd probably say something like "oh, cool" when perusing update notes if it's included.
yeah...I forget the specifics on how everyone was "guessing" what the crit. magic adjustment was, but I do recall there was some debating over it because they hadn't been able to discern the INT of some of the targets being used and what not. Some of the numbers parsed were only showing increases in the 100-200 point range at the time. I imagine it's a lot more drramatic now with better gearing and what not.
I'd simply like it so I can kind of eyeball just how much it is kicking in without having to track a boat load of casts. It usually doesn't take long to determine whether to fill some slots with a piece with INT or a piece with MAB on it--in some cases didn't even need to test it because of the values on the pieces. Crit. Magic Hit takes a lot more effort to try to track.
Eyeball or no, there's still absolutly no way to be certain what was a critical or not.
Try reading my earlier post, it's stupid easy to tell when you get a crit. Besides, testing was done almost immediately and the value for Mcrits was discovered within a day or two of the stat being implemented. If you have magic crit gear, it adds 10 Magic Attack Bonus to that nuke when it procs. Magic Critical Hit Rate only improves that chance, Magic Critical Hit Damage +x% increases the MAB of the proc to whatever the x% was, So if you have Mcrit damage+5%, a magic crit now adds 15 MAB when it procs. Aside from resist and day/weather, nukes do not vary in how much damage they do on the same mob (unless you gain a buff or add a debuff on the target that changes the values of the formula, such as Ascetics Tonic, or Burn). It's stupid easy to see when you get a crit, unless your resist rates are through the roof and only get crits on the resists.
