Why The Effort/Difficulty Imbalance With Relic/Empyrean Vs. Mythic

Mentioned in a few threads, but I thought I'd try and ask outright. Why is there such an imbalance in what is required for a Relic and an Empyrean weapon vs. a Mythic weapon. It's especially noticeable after the recent updates to Dynamis and ancient currency now being so available.

Now I know there are plans to increase Alexandrite availability, but leaving that aside the paths for the mythic weapon still requires a huge time and gil investment, far and beyond what is required for the other two.

Relic
At most you need to hand in a total of 19,300 pieces of Ancient currency (16,300 if you include the end refund), plus a few (relatively) easy to obtain items.

Empyrean
Hand in 216* ex items from various mobs, some requiring a significant investment of time for farming pop sets/items.
*Included trials up to level 90 weapons.

Mythic

Stage 1.
Complete 100 floors of Nyzul Isle
Complete 50 Assault Missions
Defeat several mobs of varying difficulty

Stage 2.
Redo All 50 Assault Missions previously performed in Stage 1
Hand in item that requires aprox. 2 months minimum of daily Nyzul Isle rusn to purchase.
Hand in item that requires aprox. 6 months minimum of Einherjar runs (twice a week) to purchase
Turn in 30,000 items requiring Aprox. 7 months of daily Salvage Runs* (or an impractical amount of gil to buy)

* Assumes an average of 150 Alex per run, with all drops going to just one of the three players.

Stage 3
Hand in 3 items from three separate mobs, each of whom require significant time investment to get a pop set.
Complete solo battle, with knowledge that a loss requires repeating stage 3.



So what's the deal? I know that Relics used to require a lot more than they do now, mostly a giant pile of gil. But even then, just the Alexander part of stage two is nearly twice the entire requirement for the Relic Weapon, and check any server, Alexandrite prices are higher than ancient currency. Regardless of how much you plan to increase Alexandrite availability, I'm wondering what the logic was in making this one section of one stage so much more than the entire relic line (forgetting for the sake of this post that it used to be 50,000 pieces).

I do understand that for a time (before Square forgot the ToAU expansion), Alexandrite was much cheaper, but even then, there was a lot more footwork to the missions than just handing in ancient currency.

Why not just eliminate the entire Alexandrite segment? Without it the effort needed would still be comparable to the other weapon classes. At the very least the section should be lowered when the other parts are taken into account.

Alternatively, why not upgrade the stats on the Mythic Weapons, putting them far and above the stats Relic and Empyran weapons, justifying the massive amount of extra effort needed?

You're not Hordecore/a, so please don't imitate him. If you weren't aware of this person, and simply saw all the [To the Devs] threads without reading them, then you should now be aware- There is a policy of the staff not to respond to threads that specifically ask for their attention.

And if you think the base mythic weapon is hard to get, you obviously haven't read about how hard the afterglow trial is.

Why not? Rage from relic and emp owners probably.

When Relic holders made their weapons they did so because at the time those were the best. When Mythic owners made their weapons they did so with full knowledge that what they were getting was a second class weapon at 3x the cost or more.


If mythics had come first and relics had come second and eclipsed them then I'd agree with you but you knew what you were getting and went ahead and made it anyway. Too late to cry for SE to fix things now.

I've seen you state this in a couple of other threads too, and I'm genuinely confused and a little irked by it. Do you know for a fact that what you are saying is true? Has any SE representative stated this somewhere, and I've missed it? If so, please tell me where they've said this.

I only ever recall them saying via the rules that doing it won't improve the likelihood that they'll read it. They claim to read over all threads. I don't think it's their M.O. to just skip reading threads because they are addressed to staff. I even went so far as to investigate this since the first time it was mentioned and I never came up with anything to back the claim up. So I think it's safe to say that there being a staff policy of never commenting in [to the dev] type of posts is at best a case of reading too much into things. But hey I'm not so anal as to say it's not true just because I haven't found the staff quote so yeah, if it exists people need to see it to help put a stop to the trend.

@ op - Have you made any empyrean weapon to 90 since you got 99, that shit is almsot easy prey mobs now i mean it was never hard but its a complete joke now.

Due to the hmp and due to the relic trials after the 75 version id say empyreans and relics are similar in effort to make to 95 + with empyreans been vastly easier to 90 were they have the aftermath and in most cases a really powerfull weaponskill.

Mythics im pretty sure when the toah stuff gets revamped i think they said in March will also become easier to obtain.

Is there? When was this stated?

I kinda wonder why anyone goes through the aggravation to get a Mythic. You don't even get a new and exclusive weapon skill (yeah you get a new WS, but you could get that much much more easily by climbing to floor 100 of Nyzul which you could do in 2-4 weeks).

It is true, and was even stated by camate that "it's not our policy to respond to posters that specifically ask for our attention."

Similar policy exists on just about every game publisher's official forums.

Besides, if trying to get their attention directly worked, everyone would do it and then it would be rendered ineffective.
