How to Apply KB2803821 Security Update

In regards to the issue where the opening cut scene of the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (Windows ver.) will not play properly if the Windows update that took place on Jul. 11, 2013 was done on either Windows® Vista or Windows® XP, Microsoft has released the corrected version of the security update. Please refer to the following procedure to apply the update.

• If the security update has been uninstalled:
  Please refer to the procedure on "How to Restore Hidden Updates" and "How to Insall Updates Manually" listed on the following pages.
  • Windows® XP
  • Windows® Vista
• If the security update is not uninstalled:
  Please download the security updates from the following pages and install it manually
  • Windows® XP SP3(North America/EU)
  • Windows® Vista 32 bit SP2(North America/EU)
  • Windows® Vista 64 bit SP2(North America/EU)

How to Restore Hidden Updates(Windows® XP)

1. Access Microsoft Update from the following URL:
   http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate
   
   
2. Click Custom button.

   

3. Once the available updates are displayed, click Restore hidden updates placed on the left side of the page.

   

4. From the list under Restore hidden updates, please select the updates you wish to install.

   

5. Click Restore button.

   

How to Apply Security Updates Manually

1. Access Microsoft Update from the following URL:
   http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate
   
   
2. Click Custom button.

   

3. Once the available updates are displayed, make sure that "Security Update for Windows Media Player (KB2834904)" is included in the available updates and click Install Updates on the left side of the page.

   

4. Click Review and install updates button.

How to Restore Hidden Updates (Windows® Vista)

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Programs and Features, and then click View installed updates.

   

2. Select the update you want to install.

   

3. Click “Restore.”

   

4. When the “User Account Control” dialog appears, click “Continue.”

   

How to Apply Security Updates Manually

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Programs and Features, and then click Check for updates.

   

2. Once the checking process is completed, click "View available updates."

   

3. After confirming that "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2803821)" is included in the available updates, click "OK" button placed at the bottom of the window.

   

4. When the “User Account Control” dialog appears, click “Continue.”
