    Questions Regarding Synthesis/Gathering Stats

I haven't had much like finding a really solid source that explains how basic stats like:

    DEX/STR/VIT/MND/INT/PIE affect crafting/gathering

and also stats like control/perception/magic as opposed to regular craftsmanship etc.

If someone could guide be on how this works I'd appreciate it!

    Bonus Question:
What is the max amount of materia you can meld to single piece? I've seen quad meld O.O

    1. How do the base stats affect crafting and gathering?
    A: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...358#post415358
    DoH stats
Base attributes for Disciples of the Hand will increase the resulting product's quality.
    • Carpenter
    - Main Hand: VIT / Off Hand: DEX
    • Blacksmith
    - Main Hand: STR / Off Hand: MND
    • Armorer
    - Main Hand: VIT / Off Hand: STR
    • Goldsmith
    - Main Hand: DEX / Off Hand: INT
    • Leatherworker
    - Main Hand: VIT / Off Hand: INT
    • Weaver
    - Main Hand: DEX / Off Hand: MND
    • Alchemist
    - Main Hand: INT / Off Hand: PIE
    • Culinarian
    - Main Hand: MND / Off Hand: PIE

    DoL stats
STR: During the logging approach phase, it will be easier to determine the proper angle for each item.
VIT: During the mining approach phase, it will be easier to determine the proper force needed for each item.
DEX: During the fishing approach phase, it will be easier to determine the proper rod movement for each item.
INT: Number of items acquired by botanists will be increased.
MND: Number of items acquired by miners will be increased.
PIE: Number of items acquired by fishers will be increased.
Gathering: Lessens depletion of the Remainder gauge when using a main hand tool, and increases the chance of gathering. items when using an off hand tool.
Output: Increases the number of gathers or hooked fish.
Perception: Makes it easier to obtain high quality items.

    2. What are these Control/Perception/Craft/M.Craft stats?
    A: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...f271d7a0a84d5f
Among recipes in the game, there are those for which the rate of progress and chance of success are increased by higher Craftsmanship, and those for which they are determined by Magic Craftsmanship. Control helps to reduce the occurrence of aetherial sparking (see below), and exerts its influence over both types of recipes just mentioned.

All recipes, however, have set attribute requirements. Attempting a recipe with attributes below those required will result in lessened progress and quality, even for successful actions.
It was also recently added that Control will help prevent/stabilize elemental instabilities.

Perception is for DoL, so I'm not sure why you're lumping it with DoH stats. Perception will do you no good while crafting.

    3. What is the maximum amount of materia you can meld onto a single piece?
    Five

Why these numbers? Anything special about them or are these just what you have?

He likes spouting his own personal preferences without providing any data to back them up from what I've seen in other threads.

I'm not a CRP, but in principle it shouldn't matter.

I have a craftsmanship set that has 190 craftsmanship at the expense of everything else and a similarly-built outfit with 174 magic craftsmanship. I don't have Byregot's Blessing or any of the other high-level quality abilities, so I need Improvise. If I use the correct set I can get 400-500 quality on a tough recipe using Great Strides, Culmination, Brand of X, Improvise, and Manipulation. With the sets skewed this much, it's very easy to tell if the recipe is craftsmanship or magic craftsmanship, and the lack of control means I get an unstable element most of the time unless the recipe is low enough that I don't have many fails.
