Entry - The True Horror of Haukke Manor

At long last Calyana had saved up enough Gil to buy the Haukke Manor as her private house. However, her joy didn't last long, and her heart shattered as she learned that she only had 100 furnishing slots.

    The Soulless Hyur

In spirit of the holiday a cheerful lalafell bard strolled to the amphitheater, looking through the festive lights and people cheering. Costumes and and colors to match the day. It was then when he noticed one lone hyur standing, not moving an inch. Greeting got him no response, not even his eyes acknowledged the lalafell bard. He waved, he smiled, he greeted again and even offered a pumpkin cookie. But the hyur man did not respond. Confused the bard insisted, a poke and then another until light of pink color, muting all sounds about, filling his head. Words through a screeching sound making little sense to him. There was no stopping, they went on...and on, and on.! Terrified the bard stepped back. But the words ...

    Curse of the Monk

Happy to see that the limit was raised, so here's my piece again.
Just in-case you don't see the details in the piece...

    Name: Shor'va Storum
    World: Tonberry
    Prize: Chocobo Noble Barding

    ====================

Eorzea, home to many races, cities, and tribe. May they be Hyur, Lalafell, beast, or primal. There's no end to the adventure or mystery, but sometimes there are events and scenarios that fall outside of reality and logic. No, not even the magic of Scholars or the handiwork of the Machinists can solve this problem. Not even the loudest calls to Hydaelyn will lift this burden. Oh, you ask why? Now that is a hard question to answer, unless you have seen this for yourself, but worry not, I shall tell you this tale of misery, danger, and regret.

It was another day in the life of me, Shor’va Storum of Tonberry, the Monk that ever loves to punch things. Some days I even ask myself if I can become a “muscle wizard”, and introduce the magic of punching to the Arrzaneth Ossuary, they never did respond to my mail, I still don’t know why. Ah, yes, the story. So it was like any other day, I defeated Ravana, accidently tripped Thancred, looked at the markets for a set of Chocobo Noble Barding, and sent hate mail to Titan, but then I heard a buzzing in my ear. It was my Linkpearl, I quickly responded, hoping it was Tataru. Yet my eyes open wide, “yes, of course, I’ll be there.”

I instantly teleported to the location, hoping I was not too late. This was an occasion I could not simply turn down, the fate of the realm may rest upon it, that and I always like lending a hand… or that’s what I thought. In any case, I sprinted, leapt over many obstacles, beating a harmless monster or two along the way. That was when I met my target. It was a large beast, and its aura was dangerous enough to stop me in my tracks. I bit my lip, yet urging myself to hurry; I shook my doubts away and engaged the enemy.

Delivering a strong Bootshine to the middle, I quickly strike once more with a True Strike. Activating Featherfoot I dart to the right, its opening was obvious and I intend to make use of it. Smirking, I give a Snap Punch before jumping back. Its health is high, but I had faith in my skills, and the heat raised around me as Fists of Fire gave me strength, leaping back in, I give another Bootshine, and immediately dig my Twin Snakes into him. Yet all my stamina was suddenly gone, lost to this fiend that knew no loss. I slump to my knees, waiting...

It rose above me; smiling like the beast it is and gave me a thumbs up.
“Marvellous message as always,” Godbert said.
It was then; I regretted walking the path of the Monk, for not even these supple fists can keep up with this monster.

    Eorzea's Eldritch Horrors

I decided something based on Lovecraft would be fun, and it really was!

    -Character name: Darquesse Vile
    -World: Lich
-Prize: Anything, I did this for fun

The temple was like any other on the outside; run down and ancient. I was particular to shambled and ruined things, it was as if I would look upon them and see the history of this overwhelmingly old construct. The walls, broken down and partially destroyed. The inside just as ragged. I moved along the far wall, running my hand along the rough stone surface. I noted the pictorial carvings. Not any language I recognized. Though... As my eyes drew across the images; I had such strange feelings; more so inklings. Peculiar indeed, though nevertheless I continued perusing.
The darkness crept in; smothering the light of my torch somewhat. Was it my imagination? It had to be. My skin prickled; hairs standing on end. There was an idea in the back of my mind; I likened the sensation to a voice, saying 'turn back.'
It had to be some queer effect of this building; the atmosphere or the age. It was clearly older than any temple I had seen in Eorzea. The symbols and engravings sent chills down the spine. Images of monsters and creatures clearly from the wildest of imaginations. I had seen many a frightful thing in my time as an adventurer, though for whatever reason it was this temple in particular that had this... Feeling.
The more I examined the walls of this temple the more I thought. It was almost as if I was subconsciously attempting a distraction; alongside my body's strange reaction to this place. As if I was staring down a large predator. I looked back, waving the torch as I turned. Dancing shadows cast on the walls took on the oddest of shapes – my mind conjuring alien images from nothing. I could not see the exit. A deep breath.
After a deeper excursion of the temple, I found myself stumbled upon a dais of sorts. On it stood a statue. I recognized the design from the symbols on the wall, and I felt the small hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. This monster was... Unlike any monster. It defied reason... But it was a simple statue! No longer an inkling; I could hear the whispering of dead civilizations in my mind. Behind the statue – a staircase leading down into utter blackness. Beside the staircase a skeleton. More became visible in my torchlight... Skulls bashed in... No... Blown from the inside? More... At least three dozen ancient corpses. I stopped. My gaze fell upon the blackness of that staircase once more. My breathing ragged, I felt... The sensation of eyes upon me. The whispering intensified. This being was no primal... It was older. I made out words within the whispers. 'ancient', 'madness'... 'understanding'. I looked again upon the corpses of a people clearly worshiping this... Thing... To look upon such madness would be to surrender one's sanity. To attempt understanding would be far worse. My torch hit the ground as I ran. Far from this eldritch insanity.

    The call of blood

    Character Name: Ellana Trevelyan
    Server: Excalibur
    Choice: Chocobo Noble Barding

    ---------------------------------------

All Saints’ Wake was in full swing, with every city state participating in the celebration with eerie decorations and revelry in the streets. Ishgard was no different, and Ellana had been pleasantly surprised to be invited by Ser Aymeric to a private party at his estate.

Aymeric greeted her at the door personally, looking dashing as always in a finely tailored black suit and a long cloak secured across his shoulders. With an impish smile, and a small flash of sharp canines, he ushered her inside. The door thudded shut behind them and the lights promptly extinguished.

Ellana stood for a moment, waiting for her eyes to adjust, and sensed Aymeric moving away from her into the darkness. She reached out too late, her fingertips only finding the air, and she blinked in confusion as candle braziers lining the walls spontaneously flickered back to life. The main hall was now empty, though she could hear a faint rustle of fabric ahead.

Finding no trace of Aymeric in the corridor beyond the hall, she continued deeper into the mansion. Spinning on her heels with every sound, but unable to locate anyone responsible, Ellana was certain that she was being watched.

She finally found him in a study lined with floor to ceiling bookcases, lit only by the firelight from a small crackling hearth. He fixed her with a look of both amusement and intense hunger, absently swirling the liquid in his goblet with one hand and beckoning her over to him with the other.

“All Saints’ Wake always stirs within me the power of blood and shadows, and now you have had a small taste of what it allows.”

She noted a small dab of red smudged at the corner of his lips from whatever he had been drinking, and stared at it transfixed with a dawning of understanding. He had followed her, undetected, while she traversed through the mansion.

“I would willingly share this power with you, if you desire. Think of what you could do to our enemies with such a tool in your arsenal” he continued softly, “and I would be there to stand by your side against the chaos, for eternity... if you join me tonight.”

Her gaze flitted to a shape slumped in the corner of the room, the body of a man she vaguely recognised from The Brume. She gave a small gasp and Aymeric stepped closer, a sad wistfulness etched across his handsome features.

“I only quench the thirst with a sacrifice of those who have hurt others, like him. Tell me...” his breath was hot against her exposed neck and she closed her eyes at what was to come. “Would you turn away such a gift knowing that you can use it for what is right?”

He knew her well- she would take any steps possible to help her protect the people of Eorzea; even if it meant embracing the grey between supposed morals set in black and white.
