I am one of the lucky? few who had enough gil and was able to log in after the (horrible) patch yesterday and purchase a Small personal house.
I did so knowing that I would moreso regret not buying one (if I could), than buying one; and not because I think the way it was implemented made any sense whatsoever. It does not. This system of personal housing makes no sense.
I would trade it all for the proper implementation of either individual instance personal housing (ala WildStar) or ample/affordable ward/neighborhood housing (which knowing their issues with the FC wards, I knew was not possible).
I don’t see this system changing at all though, as it seems this was their intention and plan from the beginning. The first 5 wards were introduced with a huge price-gate, and eventually filled, far exceeding SE’s expected demand. Right or wrong (wrong!), I expect this is what we’re stuck with.
With all that being said, we will now have issues with the personal housing as it now stands. That issue will be being able to properly share your house with other(s).
Ideally, and at the very least, I’d like to share my house with one person (my future Eternal Bonding partner), and I can certainly wait until that system is in place. For this system, I want to be able to give my Eternal Bond Partner FULL PERMISSIONS/ACCESS as if he also owned the house. Obviously this could/should be something you can set on/off if others don’t fully trust their future partner. (I do.)
There should also be a setting where I can allow specific players, or at least specific groups such as Friend List / Free Company, either into my house or able to use the amenities in my house, or both.
There needs to be a way to add full permissions of the house to one or more people, whatever works. As it stands, no one but myself can access my mini-aetheryte, my summoning bell, garden or mailbox. Of course, I am also the only person able to add or re-arrange furniture, etc.
Even more stupid (like private chambers) I have the choice of allowing NO ONE into my personal house or allowing EVERYONE into my personal house. It’s everyone or no one. So dumb.
I understand that this is how it is now. However, I am hoping it is something that can and will change in future patches, specifically 2.4 (as more wards will be added and therefore many more people in this situation) or at LEAST by the time the Eternal Bonding/Marriage system is added so that we can properly “share” our house with our marriage partner and they have full permissions:
-access to all estate settings (place/arrange furniture, etc.)
-use of summoning bell
-gardening
-mailbox
-NPC/Vendors
-mini-aetheryte teleport
-more?
Why would I hang out at my house and use these amenities if there is absolutely no reason for anyone else to join me?
In addition, it could ease the demand for personal housing as people could share property and the costs associated with it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make this possible, in the end if it’s not possible, I probably purchased my personal home for no reason.
tl;dr In the near future please add permission settings (or option for FULL permissions for Eternal Bond Partner) for personal houses (and private chambers as well if possible).
If anyone wants to add their ideas to this thread, I will be happy to update the OP.
There are now numerous threads on this matter. Please be sure to read and like the posts and post in these threads so they stay in the forefront! Thank you so much
