100% Guaranteed High Quality Tool Items: Absolutely NO RNG!

    My Other Rotation:

100% RNG Free 40 Durability Rotation
No Food, NQ Materials, RNG Free Two Star Artisan Mass Production Rotation

    ---

A friend of mine asked me to share the rotation I used to synth all 400 of my Artisan items. It was a modified version of my 2 Star rotation, which achieved the same guaranteed results pre-2.2.

"There are a lot of rotations out there, what makes this one different?" I hear you ask. Two reasons: one, it's simple. It's efficient. It doesn't have you watch dozens of steps or rely on Tricks of the Trade. Secondly, this rotation is guaranteed to reach 100% quality every synth and it relies on absolutely no random number generator nonsense; the success of every action in this rotation is 100% and it will always reach 100% quality and guaranteed completion. Rather than waffle on any further I'm just going to get into the...

    Requirements:

    - You will need HQ Materials *
    - 352 Craftsmanship, 358 Control, 345 CP. This means fully melded gear **
    - HQ Bouillabaisse (+43 CP) food active Read note below!
    - Your master book, obviously

About CP Food: The rotation posted requires a HQ Bouillabaisse, however on Page 3 John Mccain points out that you can drop the Great Strides in Step 10 and still reach 100% quality 100% of the time. This means you can drop 32 CP from the rotation, drastically lowering the CP requirement. You'll just need +9 CP from Food if you remove this step!

    - Cross Class skills:
    --- CRP 50: Byregot's Blessing
--- WVR 50: Careful Synthesis II
    --- BSM 50: Ingenuity II
--- CUL 37: Steady Hand II
    --- GSM 50: Manipulation (15) and Innovation (50)
    --- ALC 50: Comfort Zone

    * It is not possible to get HQ Vitriol for the Alchemy synth but this rotation still reaches 100% with NQ Vitriol

** This rotation (with Normal condition on every touch) has roughly 400 more quality gained than required, so the control stat stated is higher than required. This was my stat with fully melded gear, which you'll need for 3 star synths anyway. Perhaps other people who might experiment with lower control could share their findings?

    The Rotation:

Remember to check you have Bouillabaisse on: this rotation uses all 388 CP!

    01 - Comfort Zone
    02 - Inner Quiet
    03 - Steady Hand II
    04 - Basic Touch
    05 - Basic Touch
    06 - Basic Touch
    07 - Basic Touch
    08 - Basic Touch
    09 - Manipulation
    10 - Great Strides
    11 - Steady Hand II
    12 - Basic Touch
    13 - Innovation
    14 - Great Strides *
    15 - Ingenuity II
    16 - Byregot's Blessing
    17 - Careful Synthesis II
    18 - Careful Synthesis II
    19 - Careful Synthesis II
    20 - Careful Synthesis II

    * If you get an 'Excellent' after applying Great Strides on Step 14, use Byregot's Blessing before Ingenuity II, otherwise your Byregot's Blessing will be on 'Poor' condition. Make sure to use Ingenuity II before the Careful Synthesis!

And there you have it. This will produce the high quality items required for the Artisan Tools every time, without fail, providing you keep an eye on the condition on the second Great Strides in Step 14. It's imperative you use Byregot's before that Ingenuity II if your condition is Excellent after using Great Strides. The rotation will not reach 100% quality if you use Byregot's on the Poor that would follow using Ingenuity II on the Excellent. Do make sure you apply Ingenuity II before finishing the synth with those four Careful Synthesis!

You can macro this rotation for a fairly high probability but not guaranteed automatic rotation that requires zero input. The only way this rotation will fail to high quality the item is when it gets a Poor on Byregot's; even then, you're looking at a roughly 70% chance of high quality depending on the conditions during the five touches at the start. I used this rotation in a macro and watched some TV for my final two tools without watching the condition on Step 14 and went 100/100 on HQs.

    This Rotation in Macros:

So here are the three macros I used for those who are looking for a cut and paste:

    Macro 1:
    /action "Comfort Zone" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Inner Quiet" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Steady Hand II" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Manipulation" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Great Strides" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Steady Hand II" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Innovation" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Great Strides" <me> <wait.2>
/echo CHECK CONDITION: If Excellent, hit Macro 3. If not, hit Macro 2!
    Macro 2:
    /action "Ingenuity II" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Byregot's Blessing" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /echo Done!
    Macro 3:
    /action "Byregot's Blessing" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Ingenuity II" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Careful Synthesis II" <me> <wait.3>
    /echo Done!
If you want to just synth without worrying about the condition on Byregot's, you just hit Macros 1 > 2 over and over. But if you're keeping an eye on the condition for guaranteed high qualities, hit Macro 2 or 3 last depending on the condition on Step 14's Great Strides.

    Conclusion:

    Enjoy your Artisan Tools!

Take away the /wait on your macros and replace them with <wait.3> after every <me>. This will essentially combine your first and second macros

    Code:
    /action "Comfort Zone" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Inner Quiet" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Steady Hand II" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Manipulation" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Great Strides" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Steady Hand II" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /action "Innovation" <me> <wait.2>
    /action "Great Strides" <me>
/echo CHECK CONDITION: If Excellent, hit Macro 4. If not, hit Macro 3!
^ uses all 15 spaces, plus looks much better

That doesn't quite make sense because the <wait> syntax is also in XI. It's one of the things I was desperately wishing this game would add so imagine my surprise when it was finally added, lol.

Other then that, I'll try this out for when I'm getting my next Artisan

Ah, then all these years my macros were more elaborate than they needed to be. Until I quit I was only aware of /wait on its own line. Doh!

They did say they have Max melds so I can only assume they follow something like this.

I forgot to mention that these synths were done with the Artisan's Spectacles. I got the Artisan's Spectacles using the same rotation, since the CP you have will be the same. You can use this rotation to get your Spectacles (I recommend Tomato Relish, it'll be cheapest) and then use it to get your tool(s) of choice.

Every slot is melded to caps except off hand:

    Offhand: Control IV
Body: Craftsmanship IV Craftsmanship IV Control III Control II Craftsmanship II
Hands: Control IV Craftsmanship II Control I
Legs: Control IV CP III Craftsmanship I Control I
Feet: Control IV CP III Craftsmanship I Control I
Waist: Control III Control II Craftsmanship II CP III
Neck: Control III Craftsmanship I CP III CP II
Ears: CP III CP III Control III Craftsmanship I
Wrists: Control IV Craftsmanship II CP III CP II CP I
Rings: Control IV Craftsmanship II CP III

These may not be the most efficient combinations depending on your server's materia prices. I redid my accessories and melded all my sets in 2.2 with the highly inflated prices as my 2.1 set was 'sufficient' for my needs at the time.

As I said in the original post, I am pretty confident your Control does not need to be this high for the Tool synths themselves. The Byregot's Blessing has a lot of spare quality stacked on it. I melded ready to make 3 Star before doing the Tools (374 Control), however, so I wouldn't know what Control to state you need as a minimum. With a higher Control in advance you have a bigger margin for error; I've had Poor on the first Touch and even on the buffed Touch in Step 12 and still reached 100% quality due to this margin of error.

awesome just finished every single class and now theres a 100% rotation. lol. wasn't that difficult but it would've been nice to use something with basic touches instead of failing a few hastys every once in a while.

Indeed. It is a shame I was so late in posting this, but hopefully it will help some people still to craft for their tools.
