As long as noone is dying it doesent matter what HP people are at tbh aslong as you can read the game and have control. But if you are conserving mana when you dont need to and a DPS dies due to failing to dodge an AOE - its yours and the DPS's fault both. The health you give shouldnt be at "ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FAILURE - 1 HIT YOU DIE", you should always top people if you can so random bursts or aggro dont kill people.

About that tank though - sounds like he just trashtalked you for no reason. Aslong as there isnt any problems it shouldnt matter how you heal.

Yes! I couldn't have said this any better myself. After playing Ak so long I see the same enemies in the same spots. When the statues come to life. Where the safe zone is from that patrolling Dullahan. What skills enemies use and how hard they hit. It is really hard for things to go wrong in these places. Especially when people become veterans to them. Standing around, waiting for the tank to get enough damage on them for a cure, I can't help but think I'm wasting time. Mine and other players.

Yes and no. As someone whose healed and tanked for a while I'd say that it really boils down to the encounter in question. It's not always necessary to keep the tank topped up at max health especially if it's going to result in unnecessary over healing (Where avoidable of course).

More often than not healers would only overheal during periods of expected high damage and then go back to 'normal' healing the rest of the time. You also have to take into account class mechanics i.e. some classes being pre-disposed to reactive healing or overhealing.

Sounds like you just got stuck with a whiny tank in your linkshell, sorry to hear that.

There are times when being topped off is necessary, like hydra's triple attack and such, but for dungeons like AK it's fine as long as the tank is alive. Our runs we either have the whm having fun with Holy spam, or I tank in Sword Oath to make the run go a bit quicker... and at times I group with two different healers that like to play "How Low Can You Go" (so far the record is 4 hp), and it makes me clench every time, lol. It's not like there's a penalty for dying anyway so just have fun with it, I would've let him die for making a comment like that.

Sounds like you did your job right to me~

That sums up the entirety of this thread. I've stated this previously in another thread, but the ability to do DPS on WHM really depends on how well your party performs.

Nullie, please keep trying to squeeze in whatever DPS you can during dungeon runs. There's already enough players who believe healers should just heal and then stand there and do nothing until another person takes a hit. That is -a lot- of potential being held back due to status quo.

I've spent most of my time in MMO's playing DPS, recently decided to switch main and chose tank this time around, and honestly, if I'm not taking a dirt nap I'm happy. There's enough cooldowns to blow on a fight like that that 50% and even a little lower just isn't a problem. The healer I play with a lot on skype always tells me when he's switching to damage, but if it weren't for that I'd hardly notice. So long as you know which fights you can't get away with it you're fine and your tank was just whining for the sake of it, this is the internet after all.

I've been known to ask healers to, at the very least, toss DoTs up on stuff. I'm all for you tossing around a little damage, so long as I don't fall down and you don't ever say "Shit" mid run do what you do. If your making the run faster more power to you. Of course with people I don't know I can get a little sketchy if my hp falls below 50%, but for the most part I won't tweak about it if it's fixed quickly, and if it's a clear pattern where I'm always brought back from 50% w/o needing to comment I'm happy.

i don't mind healer getting in on some of the action. I prefer them to just sleep what i'm not targeting, but as long as it dies and its not pulled from me, in the end i don't care.
