As a tank, I say as long as priority #1 is being satisfied -- that none of us are dying/close to dying and you're aware of the party -- I say girrrrrrl, you deal that damage.

I think this goes more into the need for tanks and healers to be especially communicative, as much so as possible. Each should set expectations of the other so that surprises are minimized. Like, for instance, I'll tell the healers when fighting Ultima Weapon that when he hellfires the party, I'm going to pop my hallowed ground cooldown so that there's no chance of me dying, which means they can focus completely on the rest of the party without worrying about me so everyone can be back on their feet as fast as possible. Or, with Garuda, I'll tell the healer to focus more on DPSing the plumes to take them out faster, and that I'll pop a cooldown or two to stay safe without having to worry about me during those 15-20 seconds. Build the tank-healer relationship, if possible, and issues like what happened to you in AK won't happen, or at least have a way smaller chance of happening.

    Keep up the good work!

Help yourself to some DPS, most of us don't mind so long as we're generally kept above 50%. Warriors need a little more babysitting since we don't have as much mitigation as Paladins. So long as nobody dies and major debuffs are removed we don't really give a rat's left nut what you do, chin up

Well earlier today I had a healer who said the WARs that they play with like to have room to be able to use their selfheals, but whenever I group with random people I take that as wondering how the hell people got their class to level 50 and assume they are just playing like a downy.

I mean I didn't say it, but I was thinking it. Until they brought it up when I accidentally got hit with a fireball.

Out of all the groups I have had, I have really only had two bad experiences. Gotta remember this kind of stuff is just a drop in the bucket. I mean that's a 2 to 100+ and growing ratio.

like one of the times two players were flaming each other over nothing. getting hit by some ability on the first boss of WP or something. left cuz they wouldn't shut up

the other was this brd got haughty when i criticized them for altering the boss' positioning and everything that ensued all got a bit ridiculous, but id barely played at all that week and was used to playing PLD, i wasn't even doing my combos right because of conflicts in muscle memory. i was not very enthusiastic at the time and was not really paying attention. AK usually very smooth with no hiccups, was literally the only wipe the entire run.

i wish i would have said that i lagged, no one would be any wiser lol

other than that the worst ive had is just abandoning hopeless people at demon wall and fail NM garuda groups

so like i said, drop in the bucket

I'm fine with my healers DPSing as long as they don't neglect their other duties. If I feel I'm running too low on HP i usually let them know via TeamSpeak (if they are from my FC) or via party chat. It's kind of fun to see how long you can survive with your healer DPSing during Trash mobs, though xD

I'd prefer my healers dpsing on wall boss and throughout the entire instance than keeping me topped. Faster runs >>>>

You did absolutely nothing wrong in this situation. I'd much rather have a WHM (assuming they actually know how to play and react to changing situations) maximize their output. Most times if I know the WHM is good I just ask them to keep stoneskin and/or regen on me during the actual fighting. As long as I don't dip too low I don't worry about it, that's what we have our cool downs for.

Don't worry about what happened, he was just an elitist baby. If you ever feel you need a new server you're more than welcome to come play WHM for me on Leviathan when they open transfers.

I can't really blame that tank since you're much more advance than him.

Personally I would prefer if you top me up to the fullest or 75% most of the time. Mostly because of personal reasons - not being at full health kinda gives me a feeling of impending doom because you usually see that when the healer is OOM and/or dead or running around from aggro.

Its like wearing an ill fitting pants - its not going to kill me but just uncomfortable to be in. I attribute this to me being a fairly-green tank as well - if i dont see myself getting topped off within 5-8 seconds - i tend to panic.

Though i do agree that his reaction is uncalled for. If you told me you can dps while healing me - and youre actually confident enough at it then go for it. Id say youre a badass for juggling two things at ones - something i dont see very often and most tanks would probably think does not exist. I would suggest telling the tank ahead of time that you'll be helping out on the DPS ahead of time before they make unnecessary assumptions.
