In terms of SSDs I would suggest reading this.

Personally I like a lot of tomshardwares reviews but I know some don't. So there's always that balance of which SSD to buy due to price and size.

Also another thing to realize is that SSD's are falling in price everyday (probably) as they become more efficient so you don't have to get an SSD now. A good HD with SATA 6gb/s with a large cache does decently until the technology gets better. It's also cheaper.
