    A few crafting questions

So now that I have a level 50 DoW I want to get into crafting. I have been hoarding all the mats that dropped and one of my retainers is packed. I have a botanist at 15 atm I plan on leveling each crafting class to 20 then move each at 5 level intervals. Is that wise? My bags are filling up with mats from botanist, will my 2 retainers be able to handle to amount of storage? Is it best to pre gather or see what I need for DoH then go out and find the stuff? I do not really plan on selling anything on AH atm if I can get by with the amount of gil I have saved up. The recent threads on bans for selling to much on AH has worried me. Any tips on keeping mats sorted in bags / retainers to make crafting easier?

Retainers can keep 175 items(99 of each) so you should be ok there. You can't sort automatically so you would have to place in your retainers care in an order you like. It's something they really need IMO.

The types of materials you need change as you level up the DoH so I'm not sure hoarding is the way to go but I had lots of supplies and still needed more and I'm only mid 20's on leather and weaver.

I've only got one craft to 50, but I'll try and help you on these.

All crafts use different shards (main and side), when you get up to higher levels, more shards will be used. So I wouldn't exactly say it's worth it in the long run (you could always farm shards if you're okay with that though).

My bags are filling up with mats from botanist, will my 2 retainers be able to handle to amount of storage?
Err they might be able to depending on what's already in there, I haven't really leveled a DoH class far so I can't speak on this.

Is it best to pre gather or see what I need for DoH then go out and find the stuff?
While it'd be more tedious, yes. You'd be saving yourself a lot of money by gathering your own materials rather than buying them ALL off the AH, but there's no problem with doing that either.

You could have one retainer hold all the crafted items, and one hold all your materials (the ones from botany that you aren't using).
    Hope some of this helps!

Just to put down my opinion, since I lvled stuff to 50 too...

I plan on leveling each crafting class to 20 then move each at 5 level intervals. Is that wise?
In my opinion, yes. this is the way to go.
If you have crafters on similar level, you can share clothing. (If their level is too far away you need to have multiple clothing sets to keep up). Since you are already filling up on retainers, no need to make your Armory Chest filled also.

Is it best to pre gather or see what I need for DoH then go out and find the stuff?
I would say no to pre-gather... because some mats will most likely go to waste

My bags are pretty messed too, so I can only say about retainer...
Try to categorize your retainer pages in a manner you can remember. (such as "page1: meat/fish, page2: Metal/Jewel" etc)

I speak both English and Japanese.
sometimes does translations in dungeons too...
However, please try to not use Duty Finder with a language you don't know, because not everyone understands English.

Thank you for the tips. Side note holy crap all the teleport mining hackers. They are all over the place hiding in terrain but sometimes their names poke out.

Many of the most profitable materials are the lower level ones (you level too fast to come up with a huge amount of materials which are in high demand; at higher DoL levels everyone ends up with piles and piles of the stuff and have to sell at 5 gil a piece). Gather supplies you can turn into other supplies (IE Latex > Rubber instead of Iron Bars > Frypan) to grind and then sell the extra results. Also, Walnut logs and Iron ore. Get some.

Once you get around 20-25 you'll definitely want to start using leves. Again, plan ahead for what leves you want to crank out and gather those supplies. Triple turn-in leves (require three items to turn in) can be repeated without the use of additional leves up to twice. 9X the materials for 3X the rewards, great if you're getting the most out of each leve and have the materials. Leve rewards of 45-60 shards are also great and can help you avoid having to go back and grind out shards (or buy them).

Also, try to gather HQ items for your triple turn-ins because HQ turn in yields 3x the reward per turn-in. I found that alchemy seems to raise the fastest on hi-lo potion turn-in in Quarrymill. They make 3 pots per synth so it's 3 of the 5 you need for each turn in...Good stuff...(also, still turning in the hi-low quest because it's easy to gather the stuff and I can High Quality the items easily now-LESS STRESS hehe)

I raised all my crafts to 15 then went from there for the cross-use abilities. Also, if you gather your own resources your mining and bot should hold about 10 levels under your crafts...(at least in my experience.) You can manually raise them by gathering the better selling items on the market...Lots of undercutting so hard to make huge profits...but it's better than nothing.
