    A Solution to the Community

So as I continued to play down endgame and read forum posts about the community, as well as experience it for myself, I realized that this is not the Final Fantasy game that I once knew and I'm sure there are many of you out there that seem to agree. Those of you that do agree, would very much like to see things change I'm sure.

After muddling it over on how to go about it, I quickly see that there really can only be one solution and much of it involves the participation of Ex-FFXI Players.

We need to be more pro-active in condemning certain behavior as well as being more aware of it as a whole. Unfortunately one trait of mature/intelligent people is that we can be passive in our approach and this won't spark any change. So I ask everyone who is pushing for a better community to take matters into their own hands so they can shape it the proper way, thanks and good luck to everyone.

Agree'd. I was in a CM group that had a Pally that.. well wasn't doing so hot and the party went crazy. One healer tried to back up the pally and the group attacked her as well.

Was pretty bad. I just remained silent as not wanting to get involved. But I admit I should have said something. People can be vicious in this game and people are not going to magically learn their roles better after being attacked and ridiculed. People need to give more advice and less insults.

Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.

No matter how bad a player does, I've never found it productive to go berserk over them. Most of the time (90%) they just need a bit of instruction, and 5% of the time they're either having a bad day or just messed up. It's only when a player purposely AFKs or whines on and on about nothing that I get very frustrated.

I've had great luck on DF, but that's usually because I'm lead tank and just say "no worries" or "no sweat, tho maybe next time you should" when something small goes wrong. Generally if one person speaks softly first, anyone wanting to freak out stays their words. At least in my experience

You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar... however you get just as many with a big steamy pile of crap too (no I'm not being negative. On this thread either) one other problem is its all text and even best intentions can go awry (remember the road to hell is paved with good intentions) also people are just extremly stubborn and pig headed (I myself included) but generally it is better to be nice and don't automattically say its all so and so's fault or as the person above said be patient be nice and teach them or discuss it.

I try to lead by example. Sometimes I have been dragged down by negativity on the forums but in game I stay calm, positive and helpful.

I made a good example of this In this thread. If you give it a quick look over, I think it talks about what you mean.

There really is no solution to a situation that puts random people together with differing personalities with no accountability for their actions. The best thing you can do to avoid running into this is to do things exclusively with people from your own server who you know by reputation.

It's nice in theory but we all know regardless that the community will be a pile of filth
