Question about cancelling sub.

Joking aside, I have a problem. Most'll see it as an extremely small problem, but these things bother me and it's really, really getting on my nerves. Said problem is that I changed my character's appearance with Fantasia twice, using both, and really, after a hairdo that looked great originally but is pretty shocking with how little it actually moves; I'd just like to go back to square one with him. To do that, I need to wait until the barber shop update will come (and since SE have mentioned the vanity update will be late, I've a feeling that one'll be late too...) or somehow come up with another Fantasia.



....I have a plan.

I'm thinking of cancelling my sub and immediately resubbing to have another Fantasia DB'ed to me. I understand this is a complete waste of money (hey, it's my money.) but... yeah. It really bothers me, and I know there's bigger things in life, but... yeah. My money. And I have a few questions for anyone that's cancelled and resubbed / any of the community team lurking about! If that's okay.

1: I would assume cancelling a sub and resubbing works exactly like FFXI in the regard that once you've cancelled, you're alright to resubscribe with the same copy of the game whenever you'd like. If I could get confirmation on this, I'd really appreciate it. The last thing I want to do is risk getting locked out until I buy another copy.

2: Say you're on the 90 day plan and unsubscribe. Would you have to wait out the duration of the time you've paid for (in this case, 90 days) before you get the subscription bonus (again in my case), or would you get it immediately?

If this game works like any other subscription MMO when you pay for gametime you're not allowed to turn it off and on as you please (You can probably imagine this being pretty easy to exploit). In other words, if you cancel your sub, your 3-month gametime would still run until you were finished with that three months, at which point your account goes inactive until you decide to re-sub again.

So basically you're stuck with that block of cement on your head for at least whatever amount of time your sub has left. I'm not entirely sure how the Fantasia handouts work- I was under the impression it was a one-time thing for subscribing, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

1) I've NEVER seen a game that didn't let you resubscribe and reactivate the same account. There have been dozens of MMO's that I've played over the years and I have yet to see a single one penalize you for canceling. I would be astounded if SE did this.

2) From all I've seen and read, any new time would not be added until the initial subscription ran out. So in your example of a 90 day subscription, you'd need to wait 90 days before you would be charged again.

Now all of that aside, I think you may not be understanding how and where Fantasia is coming from. So far as I know, these are a reward for loyalty/veteran status on the account. As I understand it, once the account qualifies for the milestone, it's qualified. There is no way to go back and hit 30 days a second time. Those milestones are for the lifetime of the account.

Thanks! I'm perhaps being a little too cautious with this. I mean, logic would say that indeed it's the case with this as it is with all other MMOs, but I don't really want to take the risk without being informed.

Wait, wha? Not to undermine what you're saying or anything at all like that, but I figured it was the opposite. I believe you get rewards based on the amount of time you pay for.

For example, Fantasia for 30 days, Cascadier vouchers etc for 60, and Ahriman stuff for 90. (Not sure if it's exactly that, but.) Say you sub for 90, you get all 3 tiers of goodies. (My character did.)

A friend of mine, which has been playing for the exact amount of time I have (We bought our copies in 2010 together and played all the way through) subbed for 30 days and only received the 30 day reward.

At the bottom: * Bonus items will be sent only once to the corresponding characters on a given service account. Unfortunately you're out of luck until they add the barber or allow some other way to obtain Fantasia.

Cigaran is 100% correct. Veteran rewards are a 1-time reward. You cannot just cancel and resub to get again. If it's the same account you will never get that same reward multiple times for the milestone. You're not getting for 1month sub, you're getting as early bonus to 1month Veteran of the game. Now, if they add in that bonus as another reward at 6months for example(they didn't) then at 6months you'd get another but you've already received the 1month reward.
