make friends with people in your FC/server/ls? I got so fed up with randoms during AK that I refused to play with any tank except my brother (i still do but to a lesser extent) and just having one friend in the run can make it worthwhile.
I'm really not trying to troll you, but I have read through 8 entire pages of responses and it seems like you are honestly the only one who is on a different wave length, even though I do agree with you.
For one, this marking targets for DD's shit is ridiculous for 2-3 mobs. As a DD, if you can't tell which mob is being damaged than you aren't paying enough attention. It is a simple glance at the HP bars of the enemies. Don't QQ there and wait for a tank to mark trash targets when they shouldn't need to unless the fight calls for it (read: large groups or enemy healers) As a DD, I will always attack a marked target. Period. The way I see it, it's much easier for me to follow an instruction than it is for a tank to cycle through hate. It doesn't mean you shouldn't be doing it anyway, but I will atk marked targets as to help out the frustration.
The problem here is, you are doing AK. After AK is done once by 90% of the community, they will want to speed run it every time thereafter due to the amount of times we must run it. Your OP doesn't sound like something that happens that often. I can understand your frustration with a BLM casting on a mob before you even pull, especially if they aren't powerful enough to kill it fast. This sounds more like the exception rather than the norm, however.
But quitting a dungeon because one person is derping isn't exactly the right way to handle it either. And please don't call all DD's derps. We aren't. You will find them using DF but some of us steer clear of DF because of derp tank/healers as well.
Im a over geared BLM with Relic +1 and if i pull aggro on any mob and run the mob back to you and stop dps and your unable to get aggro back you need to learn how to tank

See, this isn't want this thread is about. These players are doing the exact opposite of what you say, pulling off an mob I didn't mark (I use, and only should have to use, the 1 mark) and running it away from me, trying to kite it while trying to kill it at the same time.
I didn't say anything past the initial 'hello', until before I left. You wanna know what the last two things I said were? (Focus target) then about ten seconds later, 'Or not...' *leaves duty* Nice of you to assume I was a snobby whiner though.I, as a healer, would rather wait for a tank that isn't a snobby whiner when he loses aggro on trash mobs.
It makes absolutely no difference to me whether a dps tanks a mob or not. The only one who really should care about it is the healer, he's the one keeping the dps alive, so it directly affects me.
Yes, it was worth the wait, and I am 100% sure a lot of healers besides me would say the same thing.
Oh I gave them the benefit of the doubt for quite a few pulls. Until the third set of fanatics at the first boss and the summoner whipped out the voidwalker (I stunned it, too, btw, can only do it once with War) yet again and the blackmage and monk decided to tank two different adds even with me saying 'focus target' in auto translate in case they didn't understand. I like how you conveniently left out my saying (in game anyway xD) in your quote just to make your statement sound... 'better'?

ie learn how to tank more then one mob silly
What everyone should know.
As a tank I don't care if you steal aggro from me. I consider it a fail on my part other than if you attack before I do, then that on you.
If you want me to get the add off of you, you need to run to me not run away from me or in circles lol.
I have this fancy move called cover, you know to stop you from taking damage?
Anyway its a team effort. If your group wants to AoE spam, SAY IT IN CHAT! Atleast then everyone is on the same page.
LOL thank you for that info, that's just what I did, run in circles AWAY from the tank. "The more you know[ding]"What everyone should know.

I have yet to participate in a speed run though where any kind of independent mob killing is expected from the dps or AOE without me asking first. I appreciate that this thread is about a different kind of instance than I have done... but still, your advice is useful to me.

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ
Unfortunately some people just don't work well together.
I'm not saying there aren't bad players, I've seen plenty of them. But it is also completely possible for 4 equally skilled/geared players to get paired together, and their party fail.
The group I run AK with regularly we don't even mark mobs anymore, they know I can hold the threat (or get it back quickly if I lose it), and I know they won't die if they pull threat for a second. Infact, the dps is usually intentionally attacking the wrong thing, and I'm usually provoking him to pull threat off me.
That being said there are times I've got into pugs where we never make it past demon wall. It might be a clash in personalities, it might be that the other people are so used to doing something specific that it doesn't go with your normal flow.
An AK run I was in recently had a dps that was AoEing and pulling. Now, I would have been fine with him AoEing, but pulling just added a level of frustration to regaining threat on the targets that was not welcomed from some random person I didn't know. When I asked him if he could hold off a second and just attack 1 for a few seconds before aoing, he said no, claimed to be a PLD on turn 5 and said he "expected more" from his tanks. Hah, now like I said, I doubt comments like that from a stranger would be welcomed by anyone. I'm not saying he was a bad player, me and him simply didn't work together, to paraphrase my favorite anime:
The point is, it's a team game, and whether a run goes smoothly is entirely dependent on if you are working together.A good person is only good while they're being good for you. And I don't think there is any one person who is good for everyone.

the players you are refering to dont care about this while playing the game yet you really think they care about this while not playing the game and will actually read this?
lol?
whenever you choose to play a game with RANDOM STRANGERS, you really only have two choices - adapt or get upset when things dont go your way
personally, i have ALOT more fun when i adapt
ymmv
