CM/AK questions. SPOILER!!

I have a couple questions regarding end game. I beat Praetorium over the weekend and have been working on CM runs for tomestones and my relic weapons. If anyone can answer I would greatly appreciate it.

CM: This is basically a speed run question. I play on PS3, so I don't know if this is affecting me. When we get to the part where we start using cannons, I can't seem to make them fire. And I mean I can't make ANY of them fire. All 3 sets, from the 2 sets during the run through we use to quickly kill mobs to the anti magitek ones we use to destroy Livia's magitek armor. None of them work for me.

Since I'm DPS, this is kind of a problem. I haven't lost yet a CM run yet because of this, but I'm tired of frustrating people at the end when they time the shots. What I do, is interact with the cannon (by hitting X). Then my cross hotbar changes to Set 1+ and it gives me the Icon for Cannonfire. (For me I hold R1+circle to initiate skill) When I hit R1+circle, the AOE icon comes up on the screen and lets me aim. Then when I hit R1+circle again, nothing happens. I know nothing is happening because in my party list I see the cooldown action for Cannonfire happening on other DPS screens except for mine.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this glitched on PS3? Please tell me I'm doing something wrong.

AK: This is just a basic question. I have finished the Dhorme Chimera and now I'm at the point of my Artemis Bow quest where I have to beat AK. Is this dungeon beatable with Artifact armor and 1 piece of DL? Basically, I want opinions on what a MINIMUM set of armor should be to tackle AK.

I was running AK with AF and level 40 accessories at the start so I'd say it's doable as far as the cannons go I have no idea about ps3 on here.

AK, if you're DPS, you should grind Ifrit until you have the Ifrit Weapon. I would suggest 2 or 3 pieces of DL. This is because the Demon Wall is a DPS race.

Don't know about the cannons as I play on the PC. But if you can't interact with them, it's probably better to let the group know, a healer or tank can jump on it for you.

As for aiming/firing the cannons on controller. Once you've got your aiming reticule up. Release your trigger for your hotbar and press X (or whatever your confirm button is). I had an awkward moment trying BLM Limit Break (they work the same way) for the first time on controller because i was having the same issue you have with firing off the ground target AOE.

ifrit weapons for Deamon wall ? Are you mad? I did this with a team that only had they AF and the lvl 44 GC weapon, if you play well you can do it. You need a good gear but skill is important too.

Yeah, this is definitely what I have been doing, but I can tell that the tanks still get frustrated, when a healer has to stop healing to fire a cannon I should be able to fire.

Awesome info! I will try this out when I get home from work today. Thanks! And honestly, now that you say that, I should have known. My Flame Arrow AOE works in exactly the same way. :facepalm:

To all, thanks for the quick responses! I have skill, and from the sounds of it my gear is decent enough for AK as long as my team is good. My FC members should be good enough for this fight.

Buy a gc weapon or the level 50 green and youre fine for AK in AF. I did this for my first run and the other dps only had AF and some leveling grey weapon. Demon wall went down. Its not a gear intensive dungeon at all.

Seems some people are missing out running wanderer's palace for lvl 50 green gear and weapon/offhand drops which more than gears you enough to run AK smoothly plus gives some tomes to work towards darklight.

You can do a lot of things. Doesn't mean you should.

Also, it's not that hard. Just might take you a while and you'll have a weapon that's better than drops and your GC 50. Why not stear some one in the right direction and not making their life difficult? You need your Ifrit weapon at some point anyways, just go get it.

last week I ran with two dps who recently got to 50. We did fine in AK. I used to think it was a DPS check but it's just a dodge check. DPS was low during trash and bosses but my mana didn't dip below 50% because they required almost no healing.
