    Exp Bonuses

    Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with the bonuses you get with experience. Like when you kill a random monster, you'll get 356 exp (+58%).

I know you can eat meals for 3% bonus.
Your Free Company can grant you 5% bonus.

Then it gets a little bit grey for me.

Can someone explain the rested bonus. I get that you have to log out in a sanctuary to get this but how long do you have to log out for? How long does the bonus last and how much of a boost do you get ?

I suppose the reason I ask is because yesterday I ran Brayflox's Longstop for about the fifth time. Most of the experience I was getting gave me over a thousand experience for each monster, and that place is filled with them so I racked up quite a bit with that run. But none of the other runs I did gave me that much and I don't understand what was activated in the last run, that wasn't activated in others.

Is there any other exp boosts that I'm missing ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rested bonus is +50%, and it lasts for an amount of xp proportional to how long you were in the sanctuary/inn (You can idle there or log out).

Armory bonus is another +50%, and is for leveling a battle class that is not your highest class.

Battle classes can get "chain" bonuses by defeating enemies in quick succession. The modifier goes up as you keep the chain, and this can be a large source of xp when using dungeons.

Gathering classes can also chain, by obtaining items in a row without missing. No time limit, but the chain resets when you change nodes.

Crafting classes cannot chain, but receive an xp bonus based on how much quality was increased during synthesis (Believe it's +300% if you HQ?)

Rested bonus gives you a 50% exp boost. The amount increases when you are in a rested state(sanctuary) and logged out, so the longer you stay logged out the longer the boost lasts.
However the amount is % based and a lvl 1 class burns through the rested exp way faster than a higher level class, so it's advisable to expend the rested bonus with your highest level class.
Another exp boost are kill chains. Every time you kill a mob there will be a little timer by your exp bar and if you kill another mob in the given time limit you gain bonus exp for the kill.
This boost continues to increase with every kill but the time frame for killing another mob gets smaller.

Cheers guys for the replies. Its been a big help in clearing things up !

Actually, does the chain bonus really apply in dungeons? Each mob usually has different types of monsters in it, so the chain would constantly keep getting broken ?

exp chain is sustained when you kill a monster that is equal to or higher than your level within the timeframe - it is independent ofnthe type of monster you have to kill.

also, dungeons do give quite a bit of exp if you have rested exp bonus, and armoury exp bonus. in brayflox and with bonus, 1000 per kill is normal. it gets to around 1.5k at temple of qarn and cutter's cry, and gets to around 2k beginning from stone vigil.
