A question about merchanting...

Simple question, are we allowed to buy from sources of a lower price and then sell at a higher price on the marketboard?

The reason I ask is a few FC members have been telling me that this is somehow against the TOS and is bannable yet surely this cannot be so, merchanting is one of the best ways to make money in MMOs so I can't see it being disallowed...

No, why would it be. you aren't doing anything game breaking that wasn't intended by design.

if an npc bought and sold items at the wrong prices and people kept buying/selling the item back to the npc knowing that it was buying stuff back at a higher price. then that's taking advantage of a typo/glitch in the system and that's against the TOS.

As time goes on people will realize the vendor right next to the board is selling what they are buying at a cheaper price. Its pretty silly people buy the stuff.

Some games have rules against this, but as far as I know you can corner markets all you want.

Additionally, there's decent money in buying stuff from NPCs and listing it on the market at higher prices, especially with wool/felt crafting and gathering gear.

NPC only sells item up to lv15 crafting needs, so during the first two weeks, it's a good source of income. At times, I've been selling things at ten times it's NPC price in the market. However, the amount that you'll be able to profit from it soon becomes insignificant when you reach higher levels, able to craft higher level things, or as the game matures.
