    Quality of Life Suggestions: Crafting

    1. CRAFT FROM RETAINER INVENTORY

I dont know about all of you...but I hate constantly searching my retainer for materials, entrusting, retrieving, splitting, etc...

I think we should be able to craft directly from the inventory of a summoned retainer. Think of it like the retainer is assisting me by handing over materials as I need them. To break up the hoards of people that would undoubtedly flock to the ridiculously rare bells I recommend getting rid of the bells entirely and using a linkshell to summon the retainers anywhere in town...but that's another issue entirely.

    2. LEVEL SYNC CRAFTING GEAR/JOBS

My armoury is filled to the rafters with crafting/gathering gear. I have sets for every level range going up to 50. I suggest that if we switch from a high level DoH to a lower level we shouldnt need to change our gear. Just sync it. Exactly like when my level 50 PLD syncs to level 15 when I want to help a friend run Sastasha. I don't have to go find some lowbie gear...my AF just magically becomes low level. Do this to crafting gear.

What ideas do you guys have?

This would be helpful I agree! While we're talking about quality of life for crafters...
    1. Culinarians need a serious work around. I know it's been mentioned many times but the amount of materials you need to make ONE food costs more than just buying the food from some NPC. The fact that it expires on death makes it worthless when you wipe several times in a dungeon and only crafting foods end up being worth anything.
    2. Weavers have too many things that require drops! I have a botanist so I could gather Moko Grass, Cotton and Flax for Linen but then there's like 10 levels of Fleece and Derimite web which is such a hassle for those who just mainly want to craft! Now we're forced to grind monsters for drops and this is what also then encourages botters to hog the monsters & the area. Due to this I've only been crafting items I can gather and trying to avoid anything that requires drops. My weaver's moving along so slowly T_T

1 makes sense. not removing bells though.

2 doesn't make any sense. Not a single other class level syncs when they switch to another one if they share armor. If you don't like having your inventory crowded by the low level stuff then that's all the more incentive for you to level to 50 on that crafter. If I switch between two DoW classes my armor doesn't magically sync down to 25. I need to have armor for that class just like you.

I just throw materia into my HQ crafting clothes and that'll last me comfortably for around 15 levels up to about 40ish. Heck I only changed to level 40 weaving tools at 43 when I noticed I was still using sub-30 tools.

I think that so long as we are near a summoning bell I could possibly be okay with crafting from their inventory, but it isn't as difficult as you make it sound. I just withdraw everything I think I'll need before burning some DoH levels out, you might also want to try organising your retainer's inventory better so it's easier to find what you want (for example keeping all your lumber together, bottles of blood, metals, ores, threads etc etc).

Thanks for starting this thread, Lasteran. I love the idea of crafting directly from Retainers (and dumping the bells). Here's your Like

If I may piggyback onto your ideas, here are things I'd like to see:

    1) Allow crafter/gatherers to hire more Retainers. One per craft/harvest would be ideal. These additional Retainers would cost gil-per-week (based on the crafter's level) and would not be permitted to go to market. They would be strictly for inventory management.

    2) Allow us an option to spread out all the pages of inventory simultaneously, rather than only seeing one page at a time.

    3) If an item is in a gear-set, lock it. It should not be shown as available for turn-ins. At the very least, give me a warning: "This item is currently in a gearset; are you sure you want to hand it over?".

    4) When I harvest, let me know what my Retainers have in their inventory, not just what I'm currently carrying. If my Retainer already has 99 doohickies, do I really need to harvest another one?

    5) Allow me to label my inventory bags and have only specific things go in specific places -- all lumber here, all reagents, there, all goods-in-process over there, etc..

    6) If an item has no use whatsoever (I'm looking at you, stinkin' fishies), either get rid of it or flag it somehow so I know I can safely vendor it.

I'm sure I have more -- just can't remember them right now .

Crafting classes all share the same gear except main and off hand of course. That's what I'm saying. It's completely different from going PLD to BLM. A crafter isn't going from plate mail to cloth. It's all cloth. I'm talking about not having to carry around gear for a 15 CRP, 20BSM, 32ALC, 38CUL, and 5LTW. I think it would be perfectly fine to level sync my level 38 gear down to level 5 when I go from CUL to LTW.

They do all share gear. But, until later levels, so do THM, CNJ and ACN. If I switch from SCH to CNJ, my darklight gear doesn't level sync, even though it'd be really good for a level 20 CNJ if it did. If you're leveling a new class, you need level-appropriate gear for it.
