Hello,
I started gathering crafting for a week now and I still have few questions regarding HQ and cross-skill abilities.
Current status
- Gathering: Botanist 15 - Miner 10 - Fisher 8
- Crafting: Weaver/Alchemist 15 - Carpenter/Leatherworker/Blacksmith/Goldsmith 10 - Culinarian 8 - Armorer 7
regarding crafting, I see a lot of useful cross-abilities and quite a few guide but most give good rotation at lv50 or high level
What would be a good rotation for the lv15>30 for instance?
I have limited CP (even if I upgrade my equipment regularly as I level) so I cannot do most of the suggested rotations.
input greatly appreciated (might create a newbie guide later)

I'm not able to access this info at the moment but I think there was a low level skill I used a lot in Alpha/Beta which gave back about 30 durability or so.
I think its icon looked like a blue or green ball..? I used that a LOT. I'd get progress up to one move short of complete, then push up quality as high as I could before using the last progress skill to finish off, using that +30 durability skill when I was down to 10. Any bad luck on that last turn meant the entire synth failed so those who play it safer might want to give themselves a little more room, maybe finish it off with one move to spare in case first try goes boom.
Sorry, I can't remember any of the other skills from back then, nor do I know if they're still around, have the same effects or are learnt at the same level anymore (there was a lot of crafting rebalancing since then) but that one was really handy, especially for getting as much quality as possible into a 40 durability base part cheap synth for great exp at all levels. I think most classes had recipes like that: lumbers, leathers, ingots, thread/cloth, etc. They come up at regular level intervals, they're cheap, they're useful, they're simple and they're great levelling fodder if you're out of leves.
Edit: forgot to mention, the 30 durability skill I'm thinking of was learnt at about level 15, though I don't remember which class learnt it or if they all did.

Currently, my usual rotation is
- Basic Synthesis until I am only 1 synth away from crafting the item
- Basic Touch to increase quality
- Master's Mend when I have 10 durability (+30 durability)
- Basic Touch until no more CP
- Careful Synthesis to finish or Basic Synth
Is it a good rotation? I don't seem to make a lot of HQ, a lot of basic touch fail

That's exactly what I used to do. Combine that with HQ crafting gear and a lot of patience and a lot of HQing of lower level basic mats (like the lumber, leather, etc that I mentioned before) and you shouldn't have too many issues. It isn't a guaranteed HQ but it's the best chance (that I can think of) you can get without significantly higher levels.Currently, my usual rotation is
- Basic Synthesis until I am only 1 synth away from crafting the item
- Basic Touch to increase quality
- Master's Mend when I have 10 durability (+30 durability)
- Basic Touch until no more CP
- Careful Synthesis to finish or Basic Synth

honestly you are not going to get a lot of hqs lvling unless you have a lot of cross class skills, or you are using hq mats. you also should be using steady hand.

That's why my current path is everything to 15 for the cross-abilities then Culinarian to 37 for Steady Hand II then 1 by 1 to lv50

First level Leatherworker to 15 for the ability "Waste Not" (use 50% less durability for 4 steps)
Then when you unlock Steady hand, pop it, then Waste Not. It will essentially turn a 40 Durability synth in to a 60 durability synth.
My rotation for weaver (lvl 13)atm for cloths etc,
Steady Hand,
Waste Not,
Basic Touch x4
Steady hand
Basic Touch(if I have enough cp left, and am sure I can finish the synth in one hit)
Basic Synth
You'll be surprised how much HQ you can make this way.
Once you unlock Standard touch and Great strides things start getting more tricky.

Thank you. So you do not use Master's Mend in your rotation? interesting
I will try to get Carpenter to 15 but will probably do that after Botany patch for more efficiency

Not any more. I used to, but the I discovered how useful Waste Not is.That stacked with steady hand, turns 20 durability in to 40 essentially. So you get 4 goes with Basic Touch (5 if you can one hit the synth) with a 90% success rate. Couple that with the occasional red (good) orb and rare colour changing (excellent) orb your in for a smooth ride with high HQ rates.
Just remember, Steady hand gives your basic synth a 100% success rate. Always use it lol it's an invaluable tool.
