PLD, with Relic, in Revenant FC rolled need on Garuda weapon... c'mon man!

I was in a Garuda df group, 2-3 hours ago, and we got a solid kill on the second attempt. There were two PLD tanks in the group, myself being one of them. They had his/her relic items (http://na.finalfaasdfasdfaasdntasyxi...e/achievement/ - you can see they earned the acheive for it back on 9/21), and I was sporting an Ifrit weap. I was excited b/c it's the first time I've seen the sword drop in 20ish kills.

But, he rolls need (http://i.imgur.com/Za5dsdfgsdfVBH.jpg - ss or it didn't happen :P ), wins the roll, and I'm obviously not a happy camper. I mean, other than for RP i guess, there is zero value in needing on this drop when you have the relic. You can't sell it, there's no achievement for obtaining it, and you can't turn it in for seals.

C'mon man!


* Okay, fine. Collecting is a valid reason to roll need on end-game gear you will never use except to admire in your armoire or w/e. Is this a traditional FFXI/FFXIV 1.0 thing? Not something I've encountered in other MMO communities...
