If you preserve a 3stack from phase 1, you can always have at minimum a 1stack + aether (so you can bane - aether - fester).

I didn't think of using Aetherdam at 1 stack. That would probably work.

Just saving a 3 stack from P1, I Bane + Fester to 1 stack, then on the next Conflag Bane + Aether + Fester, then use my remaining Bane + Fester on the third, but I don't get my next Aetherdam until the middle of the fourth, at which point I've wasted 50% of the Conflag duration getting DoTs up.
