Really sick of the EU latency problems

As a tank, a very clear example on what's off with this game is Grand Strike on the third boss in CM.

What happens? Grand Strike is an attack directed towards the tank, it essentially turns back towards the tank, throws down a narrow red rectangle and upon hit, it knocks you backwards. How to avoid it? Obviously, you want to get out of the red.

So, what happens in practise? You side step out of the red. .... Wait what, knockback?!

Try runing through him, he will knock you behind his back

Like you said this is clearly not latency issue even though it can have some contribution to this, 100 ping is not that bad for this kind of MMO.
Similar thing happens with ifrit charge, sometimes i see ppl out of it and still getting hit or right in the effect and not getting dmg. Its all about position detection and graphical interpretation of danger zones.

I don't care where this issue is coming from or who it effects, it just needs to be fixed regardless for EVERYONE who has problems with latency/freezing etc and quite frankly it needs to be fixed yesterday because as it is it is completely ruining the experience for a lot of people. People expect better from MMOs in 2013, simple as that.

So at the OP, I would say it is not your connection or computer or being from Europe, it is simply the time of day and the duty server having extra stress. I did Titan lastnight (NA player with ~30ms ping) and had a few 30sec lag spikes, as did some of the other players in my FC we were trying to get relics done for. During prime time on the weekend the duty servers are still over stressed at times and leads to some strange things (have you seen your healer who is behind titan and the tank infront of titan both get hit by a mountain buster? I did last night), and the only logical conclusion I have is that the duty server is stressed to the max during peak times and not always responding as it should.

yep as a healer i see that alot, problem is it is every single night, and other people in my FC do not have the problem but us guys from the same country do. as rumple said it does need to be fixed for EVERYONE as it effecting all.. I contacted my ISP they did some tests and what not and said the problem lies with ffxiv servers not the isp. (could be bs, who knows)

Both SE Need a REAL EU Data Center (Only reason they don't is due to Ignorance and arrogance assuming no EU population numbers - And yes this was Stated by Yoshi P in an Interview around June time as to why no EU DC), AND also still need to stop running the Instance Servers on a Glorified Commodore 64!

As a tank I very regularly see myself meters outside of a template I dodged. But on my friends recording of the same fight played side by side you see where the server thought I was. Right in the template. That's the latency we need EU data centers to fix.

EU datacenters won't fix anything, since per Yoshida's post on the beta forums the server does a position check every 0.3 seconds. This means that the minimal latency you will EVER get with the current code is 300ms. At least when it comes to positioning, which is the main problem. The additional latency of a server being on the other side of the globe does add to it, of course. But unless they make position checking faster, local data centers won't fix much.

As for my latency, I have about the same 200-300ms to both NA and JP servers. So for me, the NA data center is just as useless.

I too am using it. From 250 to 100 ms of less. Using such services should not be the norm though but i'll take what i can get (for the time being)
