Oh, stop being so damned melodramatic. The only "worst thing" in this whole discussion is that there are actually grown adults in the world getting their pants in a wad over a word used to refer to a character in a video game.
Not understanding other people is perfectly fine. Purposefully annoying others just because you can't understand them (or that you're trying to persuade them to join your beliefs) doesn't say much about your capacity for accommodating differences.
Why do you have to "illustrate" it to them? That thinking in itself is a sign that "I am better than you kids, so I do this to illustrate to you how inane this is".
Just accept that some people pay attention to things that you think isn't even worth a dime; just like how there are bound to be things you think are important, but others find it to be inane.
Accept there are differences in people, and just move along.
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway
You know, it is entirely possible to dislike something and not hate other people for doing it.
Accepting differences is a two way street. I don't go out of my way to annoy people that hate it unless they make a big deal about it. I can't tell anyone what words they should find acceptable, but I certainly can point out how childish you are if you decide to lecture me about it. The people that hate it can keep their mouth shut when someone says it just as easily as I can accept that you hate it. I accept the fact that people don't like toon, but I don't have to accept someone being a dick to other people for saying it.
I hate EDM, but I don't care if other people like it and I certainly don't hate those people either. But if you lecture me about how great EDM is and how much of an idiot I am for not listening to it, you should expect to get a lecture right back.
