So, honestly I didn't watch a single video, guide, whatever on this game until titan, and even then I have only done that because everyone *insists* that is was sooooo hard, that you needed to watch the video... it is just a giant memorization game, nothing more. stand here, stand there, collapse, spread out, attach the thing that traps your party... pretty basic stuff. The only benefit to watching the video is to keep people from having to explain all the mechanics, since there is... a lot. So to that I understand... but really that entire fight amounts to nothing more than "don't stand in the bad" and "free party members who get trapped"...
Thus far the game doesn't rely on obscure mechanics to be difficult. I like that. That means if you pay attention, then the fight is pretty self explanitory. They rely on near-perfect execution of said obvious mechanics, which is perfectly fine, and I like that kind of difficulty. So far there has only been ONE fight that had obscure mechanics that I didn't immediately understand, and that was the first mini-boss in Quarm (and that might have been because I was a bit tired... because other party members figured it out and explained it to the group).
I do support going in with at least level 40+ gear, since you have no excuse (there are a couple of slots that are likely going to be low, unless you spend a ton of money or farm some other content to get better... rings and shields, I am looking at you...). I also support not being bad and standing in the red. asside from that, you should only need to explain those minor mechanics like the cannon boss in CM. Honestly, at this point I am geared enough as a DPS to carry (for the most part) a fail DPS in AK, heck I was carrying a bad DPS AND a bad Healer in AK the other night, buy cycling through both of my mana shields on the first boss.
Honestly, if you say you don't know what you are doing I will gladly take the time to work with you and help you grasp the fight. Where I get a little short with people is those who don't say anything and then fail at a mechanic. For example me and a tank friend were doing the last boss in AK and a guy dropped the bomb on the entire group. So I replied with "how about you not drop the bomb on the group again, please", and he got all snide and indignant with me saying "guess there is no fun left in this dungeon huh", So of course I responded with, "I would rather not wipe on a simple fight that I have done a bunch already".
Or the tank that says that he hasn't done CM before, but then turns around and refuses to do the job we tell him to do, and starts acting like a jerk. "Well I got the threat on the boss, so that means I am no longer the off-tank"... ummm no buddy, if we tell you, it is your job to pick up the adds and then we wipe because, guess what, the adds didn't get picked up, then yeah that kinda makes it your fault.
