    Let's talk about SP/EXP Chains!

    Why hello there, I'm so glad you clicked this topic!

    Now that I've gracefully disarmed you with an inviting atmosphere and dashing repartee, I would like to ask: What are your thoughts on the addition of a SP/EXP chain system? Who knows, it could even be in the works as we speak *fingers crossed*

    I know you're thinking, well Doho, we already have leve linking to increase our SP gain. And you are correct! However, what about when you're not doing leves, which I've found is a gaping void for me depending on how close it is til reset. (call me a grind rat savage, but I'm just not a crafter)


    I in no way purport my opinions as the last say, but the game feels so bland without them. It would certainly speed things up a little, especially in the 40's.

    I don't know, what do you think? Pros, cons.

    Yes, we need this for many reasons. EXP chains are an interesting and fun mechanic that adds dynamic goals to the game. I don't think it would be that hard to implement, either.

    I want some sp/xp chains. Sometimes, I have a feeling to put a group together and grind on mobs. But, it isnt as fun as XI. hopefully they gonna work something out with these Camp/Hubs.

    If anything. I want.....

    I'm for a blend of both systems... And then a XIV spin on those systems as well. I'm all for a chain system, and I think that it is a must. I like the visual feedback from XII, where you could see your chain level, and as it went up the benefits got better. But I'm not for killing the same mob over and over again.

    I would take a blending of both, where one one hand, it's about killing mobs and chaining kills together, and having that feedback shown on the UI.

    The thing I would change (from XI) is that there would be a much higher level cap and that each level has it's own time-out before it would "level-down" to the previous level or reset to level 1.

    I would also add that you would fill up a xp bar for the level you were on (say level 2, and it would need 2000xp to go to level 3) you could kill some harder mobs, or string in some lower level mobs together to fill up that bar. (This all would need to be adjusted and tested, the numbers are just made up examples.)

    Anyway, while my explanation isn't very detailed, I'm all for any kind of system that promotes more party play, there are positives and negatives that's for sure, but I think the positive outweigh the negative.

    Hopefully we'll hear some info on this, or at least know that it's been reviewed and sent to the dev team for response.

    yah, I hear you on the visual feedback. that's one of the things i really enjoyed about 12. oh you know what would be kinda cool? Chains that actually prompt you to do specific things (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH LEVES) but maybe like... Defeat a monster with Fire! Defeat a monster with Battle Regimen! Defeat the same monster type 3 times consecutively! Defeat alternating monster types! etc. etc.

    Hell yes to SP/EXP chains they are very much needed. Also add to that they need to look into Mob Distribution to ensure area's have enough mobs of the right levels and fast enough respawns to ensure they have enough to sustain a grind party. Also remove the silly SP/EXP cap on Mobs 10 Ranks above you as I can solo mobs that are 10 Ranks above me in most cases and certainly can duo the majority. Do this and we might have a viable way to level in groups outside of Leve's, now wouldn't that be fun.

    I say hell yes to exp chains.

    Though I must say that damage calculations need to be altered because fights take very little to no time. Remember the early days of XI where fights usually took 1-2 minutes and chain 5-6 meant your party kicked ass? Well in XIV it's like we skipped that phase and went right into meleeburns except this time the fights are even shorter.
