Fire chain = increased attack damage of party + increased fire damage
Level chain = killing mobs x levels higher than you gives bonus to sp/xp
Same mob chain = intimadation (mobs of that type might be intimidated by your group)

While I'm sure we could go all day naming chain types, I'll let others join in if they wish, it could get pretty ridiculous pretty quickly. But sometimes it's just fun.

But also on the note of death, that would be a good penalty for dying, losing your chain(s) especially if they had it where you could get chains to a high level (50) thus making it very hard to achieve that level, but dropping all the way to zero would hurt.

And as for my example of chain level 50, it would give the highest benefit, but my thought that would only be 5% or some other bonus. Basically .1% bonus for each level.

Anyway, I agree this would open up more opportunity to party outside of leves
Very good ideas. I would actually like to see different types of chains that give different types of buffs depending on the way you play. In the end they all tend toward better exp per hour but it would add depth (and party strategy) to the game to have more diversity than direct exp boost with chains.

That being said it has to remain as simple as possible and not become a headache

Hell yes to SP/EXP chains they are very much needed. Also add to that they need to look into Mob Distribution to ensure area's have enough mobs of the right levels and fast enough respawns to ensure they have enough to sustain a grind party. Also remove the silly SP/EXP cap on Mobs 10 Ranks above you as I can solo mobs that are 10 Ranks above me in most cases and certainly can duo the majority. Do this and we might have a viable way to level in groups outside of Leve's, now wouldn't that be fun.

I say hell yes to exp chains.

Though I must say that damage calculations need to be altered because fights take very little to no time. Remember the early days of XI where fights usually took 1-2 minutes and chain 5-6 meant your party kicked ass? Well in XIV it's like we skipped that phase and went right into meleeburns except this time the fights are even shorter.

They could even add a huge 3d onscreen message that says EXP CHAIN # with a sound effect...

i agree simplicity should be the first priority. and an on-screen display wouldn't be so bad either just as long as it wasn't overly gaudy and huge. lol

Agreed. We could see normal chain progression in the chat log where exp gains are showed, but it could be nice to put more emphasis on milestones like chain 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 etc. that corresponds to higher tiers of buffs and could even be accompanied by certain rare/exclusive drops

I like this, and I liked how in XII when you reached a new tier your part might have some MP healed or HP healed, etc. And drops are always nice.

I know some others have said that it will lead people to try and be as efficient as possible, but I agree that we do that now already, I don't think players shouldn't be able to find a party, and thus balance is key, as it always is.

But I see this bringing in more positive features, like more party play, and while the battle system is priority, I think adding something like this or even FFXIV's own spin on chaining will open up the world to more then just leves.

I'd like to see Technical Points earned for performing Battle Regiments.

    IE

Perform a Successful Battle Regiment, Earn 25% of the total XP/SP you could earn from the targeted monster.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
