First, I want to say it's unfortunate what your friend had to experience. Nobody should experience harassment, insult, or the like in the game. It's just not appropriate.

However, that's where my sympathy ends. You insult people like me who enjoy this game so much that we are further along. You say people like me have apparently destroyed everything. Meanwhile, your insults are OK? No. They're not. You're no better than those people who insulted your friend. You are insulting me and others because we play the game a little differently.

I have never demanded someone skip cutscenes. However, as a healer I will not wait for the person who decided to watch the cutscene. You made that choice. You have to live with the consequence that you may be behind everyone else.

And yes, I will defend a person for watching cutscenes. I will also explain why people want speedruns and skipping them. That's how this should work -- dialog should be happening. Unfortunately, we have people like you and like those who insulted your friend...insulting each other because both parties apparently know how the game was meant to be played. Interestingly, it's meant to be played the way you choose to play it.

Something must be done quickly if we are to keep decent and good-willed players interested in the game -- otherwise, we all lose.

Some people only learn if SE teach them some lessons. Report those players right away and they probably will receive a temp ban. If it does happen over and over again to that specific player, he will receive a perma-ban. Some people, obviously not all, will think twice to act that way again after a temp ban.

SE can not change the mind or attitude of the people, but we as community can simply by reporting them. The FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 were on of the best and mature communites i've experienced. FFXIV 2.0 is getting a lot of damage, from people which probably would never have given a damn about a FF MMO, but SE wanted to make XIV more atractive to other kinds of Player...

well that is what you get for it. i could not care less about the dense retards i meet during DF. If they appear to be "that gux", i just leave and join the next group. On the other hand i've met some really nice people during DF.

The reason is because the game is designed around doing the same few things over and over. No one wants to deal with wiping on something they've already done 40 times.

Everyone has ruined the game. Y'all think the meaning of MMO content is to HAVE it first and to just HAVE it. Immersion doesn't click with people who think games are meant to be beaten. The economy mirrors real life to close - I'm surprised there isn't a virtual stock market and Cadillac shaped golf carts with gold rims and grills to appease the player base. Fantasy should be fantasy and not focused on end game gear and then calling it "the end". SE needs to deliver meaning full colors - but that isn't what the new communities want.
