Player Run Companies: a Rallying Cry

When I saw that live stream while I was working on my diploma project, I was really amazed when I heard about these Companies. The chance to build something that's my Linkshell's own, that we can use at our will or to help other players, or simply to screw around unifying every Disciples at work to gather items and synthesize them in order to make awesome stuff.

That was the most heavy point of the live stream that I liked and I'm still excited about it coming.
This is the first time I request something of this heavy value to Square Enix: Can you dev team please update us about all this awesome thing? Will it become real? Will it just be some public Companies where we get jobs from them?
Anything I want, and I guess everyone here does, is a good kick-in of this really interesting feature!

Indeed - the group crafting had me very excited as well. Not sure it was planned to go into the companys, but it's highly plausible.

This. I was a very sad panda when I realized the new dev team had scrapped/delayed/whatever the promise of player driven Companies, which was set to see the light of day in the first version update in 2011.

Some clarification would sure be sweet.

They'd probably be implemented stupidly anyway. The new dev team would put everything in an instance or something.

I would also like to know whether player-run companies are coming eventually. Doesn't matter when or what priority, but it would be nice to have confirmation that the feature either is or is not planned to happen.

I definately agree with the OP. Company housing/bank/storage/airship/etc. All good things. And I'd also like group content and ranking specifically for Companies. This really would give more depth than the glorified chatrooms we have now.

This could be a system that introduces the actual Player-run companies. However, I don't even know how the Grand Companies work yet, so I'm really not even going to bother going further.

By the way, wasn't there a picture posted on lalafells working on making a cake?

Yeah, i can see the Grand companies being a storyline for entire linkshells to quest on all at once. Later on, we "could" be getting our own player-run companies.
