    I would also like them to add Player run Companies eventually. I also believe we need something to do with those companies before we create them, so I completely understand why they want to revamp the game and change the combat system first. I think Yoshida said something about being able to have our own companies at some point, but I guess we need NPC companies to lead the way first. I'm not 100% sure he said we would get our own companies though so don't quote me on that.

    We need simultaneous release of Companies and additional content. Sooner rather than later in my humble opinion.

    I most certainly would love to know if player driven Companies are still on the way or not. I do look forward to Grand Companies, but they do look more NPC based. We fight for the NPCs. I would love to craft, gather, fight for our own sake in order to defend a public company from threats and pride.

    Caidryn is right though, our LS concepts were formed on the promises and statements made by the Dev team. We even had formed an internal system to manage large groups in order to handle the sizes of the companies that were once spoke of. Since then we've had to adapt in order to grow and be successful, and fun. Having to have our team continuously draft up events to partake in can get a little tiring and takes a lot of work. If some of these things were implemented in the game, it would make things so much more enjoyable. Mind you we'll continue to do so, but there is an opportunity for so much more. If SE is going another direction, be courteous and inform us.

    Will these once talked about Player Driven Companies ever see the light of day?

    please let us know SE, and Kitka go derail someone elses thread to pad your post count, no one gives a crap if anyone uses WoWs guild system or not. And please try and refrain from commenting on things you know absolutely nothing about.

    I was excited when it was still player ran companies ..I figured it would have been 3 LS's made up a comapny and you would work together to get ur company buildings, ships, and boats up.

    Yoshida stated in an interview a while back that while he plans on implementing player run companies he will not do so until he has a purpose for them to exist and content for them to play through.

    Things like that sound wonderful to me, having a large group work on huge projects like that. Further, from what they showed in those old videos, it would have been the release of likely difficult team crafts, at last giving a sense of comraderie to the long neglected crafters. To have 100+ of my members out in the field gathering materials whilst my crafters were working on making company housing and vehicles would be a great way to bring us together while giving us all something to work towards.

    It has been done on occasion in other MMO's where such things give very real benefits. Company buildings could be stocked with merchants that sell some items other merchants do not and the items others do at discounted prices. There, we could have a company bank, perhaps display trophies of our achievements as a group, provide specialized support for our crafters, and if we're lucky, even have a company shop NPC which functions like the craft guild npc's from XI, wherein the goods sold to it can be bought by other members of the company, giving us a place for excess mats.

    Of course, this isn't even to speak of the battle content, wherein I'd love to see specialized large fights take place. Of those I've imagined, it'd be great to build Company Boats and airships and engage in battle with Garlean forces upon them, along with some specialized NM fights. What I believe would make this shine is opening claim in such a way that any riding upon the boat or airship can attack the mob and receive benefit in the end, essentially making it your entire company vs. a specific challenge, which would be amazing in my eyes. (Think company-specific Besieged) Even more fun would be had if they placed a storyline of challenges for your company to progress through, in the manner of missions from XI just on a grander scale.

    All of these dreams are a long way off, of course, and I have no delusions that they're working on them right now. I simply wish to know if they are working on them, or if I should simply abandon my dream.

    I still expect and look forward to player run companies with buildings and ships and things, because they didn't say "We've changed our minds," or "This is too difficult to do, sorry." I just don't believe we'll see them for a while.
    A while after Grand Companies I think. Right now there isn't much to do in game. We wouldn't have a use for ships for example. Where would they go? In circles?
    If we get lots more content though, content that may require linkshells to band together, and more places to go.. Perhaps other continents opening up that we could travel to on ships.. I think that's when we'll see player companies.
    I look forward to but, but I think it's far into the future.

    Haven't read through the whole thread but will summarize my thoughts on this:

    Player-run companies was more than alluded to, we were explicitly told we would get them in the lodestone post mapping out the first 2011 update of the old team.

    It is often said that Yoshida told we would get player-run companies, referenced to the ZAM interview. In fact all he said was:

    "In some aspect, the Company system will have aspects that are similar to and can link with that Linkshell community. But it's also going to be something larger. It's going to be more of a global type of community on a larger scale. I can't really say much more than that. I can tell you that toward the end of March there will be revealing stuff coming up on the Lodestone.

    Before I became producer/director, in the old 1.2 patch notes it mentioned that we will be releasing player Companies. The thing is, we realized that we could bring out player Companies, but then if there's nothing for the Companies to do there wouldn't be any reason to bring it out. We decided to reverse that and first make sure that there's going to be content and stuff for the Companies to do before releasing the Companies. The whole coming danger that's approaching Eorzea is going to play a big part in something for the Companies to do."

    Nowhere in this is he making a distinction between player companies, and what was then called public companies (later Grand Companies).

    The fact is we have heard nothing about companies being player run since after the post made by the old dev team. And when they talked about it it seemed to be a very sweet idea, with player owned buildings and ships etc.

    We have heard nothing of this since then - and like the OP I want to implore the dev team to shed some light on this. Will they go forward with the idea, or was it scrapped altogether?

    (Please everyone "Like" this thread and make many posts in it, as to grab the devs attention)
