The new ARR compatible AMD graphics driver

Hey there everyone, I just noticed the post from yesterday about a new driver for AMD graphics cards being put out that, as is my understanding, makes the game compatible with the cross fire function. (if that's the case it would explain why it seems like my cards are under-performing.) Notice posted here: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...8f94fa17cac89b

Forgive my ignorance if this is a rather obvious question, but since SE did not provide any kind of link I wanted to double check I'd found the correct driver that they mentioned.

Again this feels like it might be a stupid question, but better safe than sorry. SE only states that the driver is labeled as "Revision 13.9", and while this newest driver compatible with my card is labeled as 13.9 I want to be absolutely sure this is the one they're talking about before I update. (the last time I blindly updated the driver it caused every internet browser but Opera to stop working on my computer.)

13.9 was released about 2-3 weeks ago, but have not tried it out. 13.9 is older than 13.8v2, which was the first driver to allow for Crossfire on AMD cards. 13.8v2 comes with Frame Pacing, which 13.9 does not. I am having an absolutely terrible time with Crossfire in this game regardless of which drivers are installed. GPU2 would randomly go to 99% and stay there for no real reason, causing my frame rates to plunge through the roof.

I had to resort to using just 1 card for gaming now, really disappointed in AMD drivers. The one time I went AMD in 15 years is the time the drivers don't work for the game I play the most.

I installed the driver, tossed it on max settings, full screen, and the 1920 res, and ran the benchmark. Came out pretty impressed. My rig I bought back when 14 first came out so I have some outdated stuff and it works great. I have HD 5800 cross fire gpu. The only time I have any problems is when there are 300 people trying to do a single fate...and it's not really that bad then. So yeah try it out.

I've tried 13.9 last night. What a difference! It's leaps and bounds better than 13.10 or 13.8v2 for me. GPU2 doesn't get stuck at 99% doing nothing and gameplay is now smooth as butter.

Has anyone tried out the drivers? Which are the best drivers for FFXIV? The new 13.10 beta 2, 13.9, 13.8 beta? I have a single 7950 if anyone wants to know.

A single GPU, you should be good with any of the drivers you listed. Most people have issues with CFX here, not really single GPU Although I believe 13.8v2 started the FFXIV optimisations. 13.10v2 should be alright for you.
