The "Guilty, until proven innocent" approach

As someone who hates RMT spammers, I am happy to see that SE is starting to take serious actions, but why is it being taken in such a destructive way?

If anyone with more than 8Mil gold is considered too suspicious to allow to play the game until their innocence can be proven, then why not just put an account wide Gil cap in the game instead?

Don't get me wrong, I am all for stricter rules, I think if anyone's account is hacked, they have to be forced to use a one time password token all the time. More needs to be done to fix issues with RMT spamming, but a destructive approach that divides the community is not the answer.

    Gil cap wouldn't work.
RMT would just have more toons holding less Gil.

I believe that's how the Japanese legal system works.

I'll be straight with people here. And I'm going to mention FFXI, but in this context its actually worth its salt.

SE has a long history of running in with guns blazing. A lot of people assume SE wouldn't ban or take action, it always eventually does. When it does, its like they just drop a bomb and don't care who it hits. Many an insanely rich crafter in FFXI, has been banned or temp banned. When the Salvage Ban day came, a lot of people who were innocent were also nailed. Even guilty people who had nothing to hide pointed out people they knew hadn't took any part in dupes and got hit.

Guys got banned when Ahbjalis (A pvp zone) came out and they used the /sprint command, I recall SS's of a GM calling a guy a liar and saying a speed+ option didn't exist in that content.

I was temp banned myself for using Hermes Quencher in castle oztroja (I was using a rare medicine that allowed you flee-speed in an area normally infested by RMT and botters).

This isn't anything new, and while it would be good to rattle the cage and try to bring attention to it, I will tell you in honesty I don't believe it will ever change. Please take it as you will, I hope that it will not became a dark stain upon the game more than it has. For what it matters, they really do eventually gun-down RMT's whenever they can.
