New player, a few things very confused

Been playing mmorpgs since the first one came out in the 90's decided to give this a try.

One thing is it says that it does not require a monthly fee but there is this buy some crysta to pay your monthly fees etc cant i just use my cc to pay monthly like any other mmorpg? or is there even a monthly fee because while registering it says game atm does not require a monthly fee that or I am over tired.

Next is how do you get to full screen, now windowed mode?

Just annoyed atm this is the first mmorpg that I have had this much of a problem adding in codes, setting it up and start playing.

Go to programs>square enix> Final Fantasy XIV Config. There is an out of game config for graphics and windowed mode

Ok had to make it to add a character in account... wow.... this is like on the verge of f2p but with a monthly crysta once they start charging and make you pay for character slots the whole shebang as well... how is the game so far? Any way to get 120hz on my display and turn off vsync?

XIV is on the verge of being redone. Working on a completely new battle and job system.

If you've played mmo's since, well since I've been born (i was born in 1990 i'm embarrassed /bow) then you will see potential in this game, but you will see it needs a lot of work and is missing content. But hey you've probably seen some game launches, and I actually logged in the day FFXIV launched it was amazing. It needs content, but starting out now you'll have some stuff to do, the grind is repetitive, but so is every grind. Crafting is pretty cool, crafting and gathering classes I think they did the best, others disagree. The only way to tell if you'll like it is the play, but yeah understand it needs work.

I think most people turn it to 2x multisampling, and I would mess around with the drawing distance. Those out of game graphic config settings are everything usually with lag. Sometimes though this game is just laggy, even on the developers end..LOL, and even in Japan where the servers are.

Ty much so far its pretty easy to figure things out... yes its more complex than other mmorpgs out there but if you played an old rpg or mmorpg equpping things etc is easy to figure out, just have to find everything but so far enjoying it. Just wish I could crank up the settings without the lag hitting me. Running a core i7 960, 12gigs of ram, 2x GTX 460 1gb cards, starting to think I should had kept my GTX 480's in tri-sli to just muscle my way to max eye candy in this game lol.

Hardest part was adding 3 codes to my account... and how to make a character/adding a character slot to the account"should come as part of the account tbh". Any benifits to subscribing right now or no? Ahhh game does not like to be alt tabbed...

Can't really help you out with the tech stuff -- I'm a tech moron. But there's no doubt that FFXIV is a beast in terms of system requirements. In fact, the devs have previously said they're looking for ways to decrease the system burden to run the game. I'm not sure how much they can lower it, or even if they can realistically do that, since I'd imagine a large part of the system burden is because FFXIV has really good graphics if run at the top levels.

As for subscribing, I can think of only two real benefits. One is setting up alt accounts/other characters. You don't really need alt accounts right now, since you can take every job to the level cap on the same character. But some people like to try different character looks, or from a more practical perspective, some people like the extra storage space, retainers, and/or use some characters to teleport them around when they run low on anima. And I guess another, lesser benefit is that you won't have to set up the account stuff when the game eventually starts charging monthly fees.
