Does Final Fantasy have one of the nicest MMO communities?

I really want to see what happens in a few months. Maybe all the jerks will leave. One can only hope...

Although... PvP will be coming out soon... and if there's anything that brings out the jerky side of people, it's PvP. In WoW, I only ever encountered weird jerky gender-based remarks while PvPing, even before people actually saw me play...

I'm really hoping people won't grief each other in PvP. I can see it now... making characters on another person's server just to gloat. Ugh.

It really saddens me to say that this community was really the best in my opinion but since the remake it seems to be the worst for a lot of you. While I haven't experienced a lot of this, I have seen some people who are just intolerant and have no patience. The game and the people never used to be this way I guarantee that.
It saddens me to read how many people consider this the worst community of all mmos but I understand where you coming from. I just wish all of you who heard great things about the ff community could have seen it before all these trolls and horrible people decided to migrate from all the other mmos.
Just know that this is not the community we were talking about when we said the ff community was the best

Anyone who thinks "X" MMORPG's community is better or worse than "Y" MMORPG's community is delusional. They are all the same.

While it's a lot of the same people and same types of people, the rules created by the developers guide the community's behavior.

Since SE has said players can join a group and idle/not-participate or participate in any fashion they choose, even if it's deliberately wiping the group, that gives trolls A LOT of power.

So yes, this MMORPG's community is worse than any other I've ever encountered.

You cannot give anonymous people free reign to be ****s and expect most to behave.

It's absolutely terrible and from someone who is a fan of final fantasy in general, it hurts.
Everyday I hope it gets better but somehow even if sub kicks in, I feel like it won't.

Some people say 1.0 had a fantastic community, can they tell me in great detail what it was like?

Well, in comparison to DCUO I would say it's slightly better, if you don't count Gil sellers which DC never really had any issues with.

Now the forums on the other hand, well that's where the people who care about the game most end up. Problem is a lot of folks can't get their valid points across due to attempts to garner "likes" by being as rude as possible, these are the folks, I propose, that do NOT care about the game and just want some minor level of e-celebness.

DCUO forums were just filled with WoW players claiming the game was too easy getting difficulty jacked up as a way of trolling..

It's not an "FF" community anymore because they specifically (as a smart business this is what you have to do) advertised and catered to a market interested in MMOs not just the FF franchise name. The people who are just modern MMO players are mostly just interested in progression. As opposed to the "FF" community is interested in the story and lore. Yes, you can be both, but those are few and far between.

I am in no way saying that progression oriented people and story oriented people are right or wrong in how they play the game. In fact, I think the progression minded bashing on this forum is insane. I know cut scenes are brought up a lot but it is because they are the perfect example. Progression minded do not want their progression interrupted, so they want you to skip cut scenes. Story minded do not want their lore/immersion interrupted, so they want to watch them. The "form your own party" argument really does go both ways. Despite the "No it doesn't, the game was meant for the story" argument becomes moot once SE implemented the main currency for progression be obtained INSIDE A STORY DUNGEON. By doing this they facilitate a clash of two different play styles, which regardless of the attitude on these forums, from experience in game is in favor of the progression oriented folk. A group that wants to skip all the cut scenes should form their own party. On the contrary, the group that wants to watch all the cut scenes should form their own as well. The assumption that the duty finder is to be used for one specific way is unwarranted. The duty finder matches random people to complete the dungeon, and specifies nothing that this is for story purposes only. The fact is nothing is in place to filter these two groups apart, and there is no lock if someone wants to watch a cut scene. There may or may not be a correlation between people who are speed running and excessive hostility. Reading these forums you would think so, but basing a very large majority on a minority experience (these forums) is unfair. That being said the people who want to skip cut scenes are not encouraging an abhorrent toxic community. It is only pitting two different play styles against each other in a way that is hard to compromise.

I don't know what a compromise would be for this, but that is what should be strived for. And if not, then one group has to be cut out completely like locking players from moving during cut scenes or specifying in duty finder what type of run you want.

Ya SQ got what they wanted, the mainstream crowd, but they thought they were the same people they were used to, they were wrong and they weren't prepared... I'm on a JP server so thankfully it's a lot better, at least better than what I'm hearing.

Probably one of the worst communities. Despite the hipster WoW bashing the WoW fanboys never reached the fanaticism of the White Knights. Elitists however are probably the same in both games.
