    that is the issue, even yoshida thinks this. The conmbat system does take time to learn. And no one gets it. Much like the armory system. PPl are making it like ffxi job/sub when it wasn't built for that but to create your own class.
    Just one one gets it or willing to. So yoshida and the new dev team are re thinking the systems to have them be more understandable. In turn end up changing them to sonmething that wasn't advertized.

    And who really knows, ppl in ffxi are sick of auto attack, least the ones I talked to. I'm tired of it too. And on;y mmo with manual attack has the worst community known to date.

    Well ostensibly, that's what new tutorials are going to be for.

    Whatever big changes they make to the battle system, I really hope they try to do a better job than the terrible instruction manual and such to really communicate to us what exactly we're supposed to be doing.

    I was surprized we didn't get a book. Much like ffxi. ffxi manual was a 100 ish page book. explaining just about everything in the game. Made for good bathroom reading >.> sorry couldn't resist a joke :P
    I get my CE upwn up amd see this lil dinky 5 page book that really had nothing in it. I was like I got CE and all i got was a (too weak) book.

    I do hope they make battle a bit more fun for everyone w/o making it auto attack. : /. But more importently I just want this game to be "fun" enough for a ps3 launch sometime soon. I feel like ima miss out on things since everyone is pretty high in lvls. I don't wanna see thing be like how ffxi is now with barely any gear for sale, no parties cuz everyone is too high, and ppl are already "to tired to help" .

    the thing is Kita it took me less then 1 hour to learn the system on vent with 3 ppl, it really is NOT that hard, the problem is not the game it is the community of ppl not willing to learn something new. Granted yes it takes to long to get a good regiment off and by the time you do 9/10x the mob is dead already, that's the only thing the Dev team should honestly be addressing as far as the battle system goes. I have no problem with an automatic light slash to keep the mob focused on you, but as far as the overall concept it is fundamentally fine as it is.

    i agree like I said I just want this game to be fun. If it must have an auto attack as long as it still fun idc. I can play ffxi for 12 hours no issue. And kill mobs no issue. I just didn't like the cookie cutting, forcing ppl to do a certain level of dmg. I hated tanking in ffxi because I was never good enough to keep hate over the dmg. not to sound like a weirdo but i had times where i cried to my then b/f over the fact I sucked at ninja tanking cuz ppl found it good to "solo" in a party meaning do over kill dmg. then get pissy at me for being a bad tank when they died.

    Ninja tanking cost to much $$$, it was about spamming Ninjitsu for hate and MB at right times and keeping shadows up, was an awesomely good time.

    Ugh, I hate MMO forum discussions. People are so closed minded, looking at everything in black and white, that they can't think outside the box.

    My opinion:

    - Spamming your "auto attack" button is boring and tedious. This is not a desirable combat system.
    - Having "auto attack" be the majority of your combat (see FFXI), with a few skills mixed in between is, again, not a desirable combat system.

    People keep arguing back and forth about which one they like more, when, IMO, it comes down to the fact that BOTH are awful. The combat system needs an overhaul. Look at your typical auto attack MMO like WoW. These games aren't boring. They don't have you sitting there waiting to do something. You have abilities that serve different purposes constantly being used and rotated.

    For me, an auto attack system would be desirable, but only IF they improve the game in other ways. I don't want this to be FFXI all over again where I'm sitting there incessantly waiting for my TP to build.

    To me, SE just needs to overhaul the combat system in its entirety. If you want a more button spammy combat system, then make it interesting or don't do it at all. If you want an auto attack system, then make it interesting or don't do it at all. As it is now, I'm not sure either are very interesting options, and that just means there's a flaw with the game itself. I think it's quite clear from the polls earlier this month that combat as a whole has many problems.
