    Need/Greed System

I may have this wrong but here goes.

I needed on a Garuda Sword for my Paladin, I was really happy since it was my first run and no one else needed it from the Free Company. I clicked on Need, then proceeded out of the dungeon.... Never got the sword.

Does the system really work like that..... Why would it matter if i left or not I selected my roll, so when the roll goes off i should get it even if i am not in the instance.?.?

If it does work like that I could be an prick and sit in the instance till everyone left and take the item every time... that is stupid.

Thanks for the info.... Guess getting excited and leaving right away is a buzz kill.

It seems to me that you are instanced off in such a manner that you are unable to receive tells or be affected by you company's heat of battle buff (if it is recast while you are in the dungeon) when you are in dungeons. So it may be more of a programming limitation than an actual stupid decision on the devs' part.

There is a timer on the loot. I'm not sure if it starts when the chest spawns, or when the first need/greed/pass selection is done. I finished Brayflox with higher-level members of my FC a couple nights ago, and discovered a nice piece of chest gear for my paladin in the final chest. It was DoW, instead of PAL/GLA, so I chose greed (need was greyed out). Two of the other three members left, possibly without checking the chest. The third had a phone call, and was just standing there while on the phone (not complaining, RL comes first in my book). I had to wait on the timer to expire before getting the armor. If I had left the instance before the timer expired, I wouldn't be wearing that armor now.

This is pretty much how every MMO I've played works. Anything not in your inventory when you leave an instance will stay in the instance.

No, it works like that. If you go out of instance before loot is assigned you automatically lose any right to that loot. Your own fault here. It's pretty much common sense.

Ok what about a 50-50 situation. Two people of the same class both hit need. How it decides who gets it? I was in a situation like that and the game took dam near 3-5 mins deciding lol. Then it finally made a choice and I lost.

I mean, Its like every single MMO loot system and is mostly entirely common sense based. Item Drops into Pool. You either Need, Greed, or pass.

It will not drop out of the pool until the Timer hits 0 Or everyone Chooses an option. So if you get an item and 4/5 People lot it and 1 Doesn't select an option, It will not drop to anyone until the timer hits 0.

So yah, Like pretty much every MMO ever, an item will not drop to a player until all elligable participants chose an Option. Need, Greed, or Pass.

The same as if you selected greed but it's between you and the other person. The one that had the highest random roll on Need wins the item (as long as they don't leave prematurely).

The way it works, as far as I can tell:

You use Duty Finder to be assigned to a group instance.
This instance which is assigned to your group of people from all kinds of servers is not linked to the servers.
You can not trade in here, I assume this is to stop any form of cross server trade. But this also means that you can not have an item drop from the instance transfer over to your original server unless it is acquired while still in the instance.

I know it is sort of silly, but you just have to wait at most for the 200 or so seconds for the timer to run out, assuming not everyone has rolled on it or passed.
