The 4 person party concept is a contract, between the tank and the healer.
As the healer, its my job to keep the tank from running out of XP. I'm contractually obligated to not over heal, stand in AOE, ever be in front of the tank. I'm also bound by contract to take debuffs off the tank as I can. If I pull aggro from adds, its my job to run towards the tank and into his either Flash or Overpower radius to make his job easy so he can save my life. Putting DOTs on the Boss, sleeping adds, and anything that prevents my from casting cure on the tank are done as time allows.
As the tank, its my job to keep the boss still as much as possible. Its my job to tell the party how I'm going to position the boss if its a fight that requires continually realignment. I will pick up adds before they rush the healer. I will pop cooldowns when I can to make the healers life easier, especially if I'm sub 400 life or have debuffs on me.
As far as the DPS. Your job is simple, get out of the red circle and the pointy end goes in the other guy.
Yeah I agree it's annoying especially when you have some very bad players in your party and you get blamed for their lack of common sense.
I'd be fine taking the abuse if sometimes i got praise when i actually do a good job. It's kind of depressing going through something like a Garuda HM that nearly went wrong but some quick thinking from the healers got people up while fighting to keep everyone alive and finished the run only for in the end everyone to just pat the tank on the back or say nothing. It'd be kinda nice those times even if i feel good about myself just to see somebody be like "hey good job you really pulled us back from the brink". Since i started this game i've got one bit of praise ever. People are quick to say something when i get something wrong in fact everyone has something to say. When i do something right nobody cares.

I have been blamed when DPS insist on not fighting the same mob and waking stuff up after I have slept everything in groups that have no BLM while I am the WHM. I let them do it the first fight then tell them I will not heal them if they go attacking a different mob other than the tank and out of tag order which I always do if I am the sleeper.
They don't like it some times but what can they do? Leave? Ok not an issue for me my wait times are near instant.

I got harassed by one tank during Stone Vigil, he never died once, unless i died, during the last boss, I am one of those poor unfortunate souls who have the server ping lag issue, so if an aoe targets me, no matter how far i run i still get hit about 85% of the time.
I was playing with my friend, so he understood, but the tank was like "seriously whm just move out of the red ring"
Common sense would be, if im not in the middle of casting a spell, im most likely not standing still in a aoe just for the lols.
But as MXMoondoggie said, no praise for anyone but the tank, or silence
If anyone is playing this game to hear the praises when you do a good job...I feel bad for you.
I myself leveled my paladin to 47 and will finish this off sometime this week...
I am also in the process of leveling my white mage to 50 as well (almost 32 now)
I also plan on leveling black mage after this to 50.
I have seen so many bad things from both tank side and healer perspectives.
From DPS not being able to follow simple kill order of 1, 2, 3...or just everyone standing in red zones
From Tanks not knowing how to use overpower or flash.
From Healers just spamming AoE heals non stop when I as tank when I only took 100 damage.
I now just join DF and have chat turned off. If people can't look up dungeon mechanics, or don't know how to read their own action help I don't care. I just play and everyone else be damned. If I want praise for a job well done, I'll run with my friends.
There was only once that a DPS tried to blame me for "not healing" when he/she/it was standing in practically all the aoe's without moving an inch. Looked like he wasn't even trying and expected me to heal his glass ass. Naturally, after the third rez, I just told him to return and catch up, im not rez'ing you anymore. Of course, he starts raging/crying/qq'ing and eventually left. We just ended up finishing brayflox with 3 people.
hahaha this is the story of my life as a white mage! It has happened to me numerous times! I was once in Brayflox trying the get the last pieces of my battlemage set (I had done the dungeon many times), and I got a party where the tank didn't feel like avoiding aoe attacks so he got killed many times, and started complaining, I told him I was fine with healing him, and then he said I didn't like him, so that's why I let him die XD OMG I got fed up, so I said sorry, and that I didn't have anything against him but couldn't go on so I left the DF.
Another time, and probably the worst experience was my first and only run through Stone Vigil where the tank wasn't pulling hate so every enemy went after me. We died a lot, but good thing nor the dps or the tank blame me, but we went like that the whole dungeon!!!
I think some people should learn about what their role really is, and not only depend on the healer to heal each hit they receive!
I get this a lot: if they don't want to wait for me to watch the cutscene they can just die, and run back, I can wait for them to run back.
