Tried to post this in New Player Help. Failed, because I can't make a post that's long enough to express more than a totally trivial thought, except maybe over here. So I'll post here. I guess it's sort of tech support: I want to know whether there is any way to make the forums basically usable.
I can't create threads, I guess. I can sometimes reply to posts, but not if I write an entire paragraph or so, because the character limit is tiny. Is this... ever gonna change? Because right now, I really feel pretty much kicked to the curb by Square's ludicrously restrictive forum posting limits.
And I see occasional posts from players that have more than one or two paragraphs, so presumably there is some way to stop being so utterly and totally restricted, but I don't see it. I think I once saw a post explaining what the restrictions were, but it's not obvious to me where it would be -- it's not stickied anywhere I've looked, and the restrictions aren't displayed when posting.
So... Help me out here. Is this really all I have to look forward to if I subscribe? Being told that Square has no interest in posts that are longer than a derisive insult towards other players, and that I'm not allowed to create new threads? If I invite friends to play, should I just warn them up front that they have to spend a lot of time levelling up before they're allowed to have opinions?
Because man, am I not feeling the love here. Being shut down when you want to say something is a huge barrier to feeling welcome in a community, and my desire to subscribe and play just went from "yeah, I will totally do that" to "wow, Square does not want my business, do they".
I know, it's "just" the forums. But the forums are full of conversations I might want to participate in, except I'm not allowed to because I'm not high enough level or something. And that doesn't really make me feel like sticking around to become higher level, because what kind of community is that?
