Also, a tip. To get around this stupid 1000 character limit on posts... Type of the post you want to make, then try to post it. When it complains about how many characters you have, Highlight all but the first sentence of your post, and 'copy' it, then delete all of what you had highlighted. Then 'post' that partial bit. After the web-page refreshes, immediately edit your post and 'paste' back in what you had cut out. Then 'save' your edit.

It'll let you post all of what you edited back in.

War is Hell, and Life becomes a Sin, when young men must fight the wars, that older men begin.

As a damage dealer you want to focus on the target that your tank marks or focuses on. This is situational of course. If you have a mob that peels off the tank and is running towards your healer, it wouldn't be a bad idea to throw a shadowbind at it.

Anyway, there's a few ways to determine what you should be attacking:

    - Tank marks 1st priority target with a symbol
    - If tank doesn't mark, usually the first mob he pulls will be the main target.
    - For multiple mob packs (3 or more) and your tank doesn't mark, since you're playing archer it would be worthwhile to move in and do your Quick Nock ability once so that you can hit all of the mobs and they display in your HUD under the enemy party widget. That way you can see which mobs are constantly losing HP and that should be your focus target.
    - There's also an /assist command you can use when targeting your tank (can make a macro for it) to see which mob the tank is currently attacking.

This game functions a little differently from other MMOs, as back in the day you'd usually have a designated puller who'd bring back a monster to the group. Since tanks have ranged attacks it just makes more sense for them to pull, especially since their ranged abilities have enmity built into them.

In a nutshell, try to follow your tank's targets and you shouldn't have too many issues. Watch the threat meter through the enemy party widget which is color coded (green, yellow, orange, flashing orange, red in order from lowest to highest threat) and watch the numbers on the ally party list as those indicate which position in threat you are for the currently targeted monster. Managing threat as a damage dealer is important. Once you can do that you should have a more enjoyable experience.
