The list of fixes for and after Final Fantasy XIV version 1.17a + suggestions.

Thought I'd post a forum entry about some of the fixes that need to be done to the game before any new content is added. My post has various views on the many aspects of the game, so I posted it here:

    Interface/Options/Gameplay:

    - Ability timer fix: Timers aren't holding their job together, an ability/spell should be ready, timer has already ran out, but when trying to use the ability or spell, you only get a message saying "Ability/Spell cannot be used now" so there's no way to tell when the ability is really ready.

    - Multiple action bars. Even if we do have our lovely macro system, you can't possibly know when your "hidden" ability is ready to be used again. For example, I have my "useful" abilities that I mainly use on my first bar, but there's not enough slots in that one bar alone to cover up all the slots I need. Visual playability needs an upgrade this is one of them.

    - The option to toggle action bars visibility on/off. Not just show them "when triggered" an ability.

    - Full screen alt + tab. Full screen window is not cutting the job. And personally, I have a graphical glitch that only appears in "windowed" mode but not on fullscreen mode.

    - Options to change resolution from ingame. And all the other "options" from the config exe should be included within the game and not separately.

    - Item list response times are still slow, as to when swapping items from retainer to character etc.

    - The ability to sell things instantly from the list by pushing down a chosen button. For example CTRL + mouse click = auto sell items on list.

    - Add a vendor "buyback" option to avoid mistakes on selling things.

    - Drag & drop inventory. (I believe this was already planned?)

    - The option to sort out inventory as you wish. Not by some auto function that doesn't serve it's purpose properly.

    - Erronenous clicking while trying to sell items. Even if I do click on a certain item, it will ghostly click on the item next below in list. Scenario: Click on an item. Sell it. Click the next item above the one you sold. And it will try to sell the item below that one. This has made me sell so many items by mistake that I can't even count anymore.

    - Examining and other actions like opening bazaars, checking people etc, initiated by another method than opening the menu, for example double clicking on the examinable spot or right clicking players.

    - Option to save password to login screen.

    - Make windows IME work with FFXIV NA/EU Clients, allows direct Japanese kanji input. (It turns off if you enable it and move to ffxiv window, then you cant type it anymore)

    - Saveable skillsets (for different classes)

    - Further removal of path blocking cliffs.

    - Fall damage for high cliff drops.

    - Instant log in after disconnect. (Get rid of Error 3102)

    Bazaar:

    - Repair items taking only one slot instead of two. It would really be nice if you could add your whole "gear set" to your bazaar to be fixed. Maybe a larger bazaar?

    - Merge retainer bazaars or create an auction house that covers up all the worlds need. Everyone is residing in Uldah atm, and probably don't give a hoot about putting stuff on sale in other cities. It's too much of a trouble to browse all cities bazaar areas. Or if this is "too good" then at least make it so that the bazaar search would cover up all cities.

    - Overhaul of the bazaar search system. Make it more useful at least and add in the planned keyword search.

    - Browse bazaars while running & longer range of operation.

    Party system/Leveling / Guild Leves

    - I'm quite sure that most of the people who are still playing this game are familiar with FFXI, so, yes, partying IS fun. There should be more benefits on grinding as a party than doing stuff alone. Neither should be penalized, but partying was always the most enjoyable fact in FFXI, it socialized the game, you met new people and so on. Now people don't really care about partying that much, there are no benefits to it. And no, the new "HP+ when x amounts of ppl in party" or "cool" announcement text is not what we want.

    - Abilities & Attributes capped problem. Lets say an R50 archer uses a weathered bow and arrows and does the same damage with them as with his best gears even if the stats vary because of the gear change. Also the effects of food are wasted because of this. So if you go past a certain point in "strongness" you can't become any stronger, no matter what food, or gear you get.

    - In a case of "disconnect" please make it so that you won't get an abandoned/failed leve. That you could continue it after you log back in. Wether the timer runs while you are offline or not. Personally I think it'd be better if the timer would stop. Of course the effects of this would be different in a party, as someone is "upkeeping" the leve all the time. But for soloers this is a must fix.

    - Fix the "hit a yellow mob, get less skill points" problem.

    - Another way to cancel a spell or an ability than "to cast/use it again". For example by pushing a button such as ESC that would drop all current actions that are in the queue. The method as it is now is really useless and this is something that is needed to avoid mistakes. Also just to add the current method doesn't even work with macros, even if you trigger the macro again IT WILL NOT cancel the ability or spell you are doing at the moment.

    - All party commands to user interface (such as /pcmd add name surname). This same goes to all "/slash" commands. The list should be viewable somehow from ingame. A general "/help" command could be useful. A command such as "/help party" for example would give you useful information about parties and so on.

    - Certain leves such as "Adamantite Wills" in nanawa mines really need a fix. Running around back and forth the whole width of the place again and again and again isn't what I'd call doing a fun leve. It's basically just running for 30 mins. Make these kind of leves less frustrating and more enjoyable.

    - Character "Freezing", actions are not initiated. And no, this is not because of lag or paralyze or any disabling spell or due to lack of stamina. Character won't do the given actions in combat properly.

    - Party member HP & general status viewable from any distance. Not just if you are close to them.

    - Display to see the percentage of SP loss due to fatigue.

    - Total SP gained from a leve displayed on the leve completion window when clicking on the spawned aetheryte. This still is something that I'd like to know without counting it myself from the bar.

    - Why do battlecraft leves even have a time limit? I feel this getting really frustrating at times when there's an urge to do it "on time". Even crafting leves (local leves) don't have time limits. Oh yeah sure you can try to max out your potential on trying to complete the leve as on the hardest possible difficulty, but why is it a penalized action?

    - Having a battlecraft leve on 1 star or 2 stars or even 3 stars does make a difference on the gained SP. But having it on 4 and 5 stars are just a waste of time compared to the monster toughness they initiate. From what I've experienced, it's just better to keep leves at 3 star difficulty, higher difficulties are just a waste of time if you're still able to beat them, but the monsters take ages and ages to kill without any real significant extra SP gain compared to 3 star difficulty.

    - Leve difficulty consistencies aren't holding together in same level ranked areas. For example, do a 4 star leve in Nophica, "Oh yea I can do R30's at 4 stars now!" then go to Nanawa Mines, put a 4 star difficulty and get killed instantly, so you'll have to lower it down to 2 stars in order to complete it. This is annoying when you can't trust the difficulty level.

    - Don't despawn the leve monsters that I'm killing, even if the leve gets finished.

    Crafting/Gathering

    - Gathering areas according to the level. For example, go outside gridania, as lvl 1 botanist, whack a tree, get something you can use at lvl 40, what gives? No you dont want to throw it away either, because you'll need it later on.

    - Make gathering professions more interesting. Having them all with 1 ability, to throw rocks at enemies isn't really serving it's purpose as a defensive measure. Give them unique abilities like disciples of war or magic have. If these are supposed to be a career you can pick, then do something about this. Otherwise don't let people choose these as their "main professions" when starting the game as everyone knows a gatherer/crafter can't beat monsters or farm without a fighting job.

    Linkshell

    - Linkshell management functions. Ability to kick players, even change linkshell name, icon and other properties.

    - Unique linkshell icons, or a way to tell apart other shells having the same icon.

    - A way to change active linkshell with a command like /1 or /2 depending on the number of the shell on the list. It's quite frustrating to change it from the list. Would be easier to have a command to it if you want to quickly speak into another linkshell's chat.

    - LS Message of the day

    (Future Additions):

    - LS ingame calendar

    - LS bank to store items in general use? (Would be nice!)

    Transportation

    - Chocobos and or airships, please. Not sure which would be better, to have it as a mount, or a rental one. Either is fine, just save us from walking.

    So..

Please, Square Enix & FFXIV Dev team, focus and spend time on these kinds of things rather than giving us another easter type of event.

If you notice something that is already fixed or have a fix that's not included, please post a reply about it. Thanks ^^

ALSO! If you liked the list, please vote it up! More chances for it to get read by the dev team.

    - Crafting generally needs an overhaul. Especially the crafting leves. A rank 15 crafting leve that you need to return to a R40 area? Really? Try running there yourself, you'll get killed a hundred times before you ever manage to get there, if you manage to get there. Not all R15 crafters have lvl 40 fighting jobs they can manage to get there with.

    - The option to abandon completed crafting leves, mostly because of the reason above.

    - Oh look I can make this shiny armor, but I can't repair it after I've made it, why?
1.16 adjusted the ranks and destinations of local leves and added the ability to drop local leves by replacing them with new ones, similar to the way failed or unattempted battle leves can be replaced by new ones after reset.

You can also always repair an item that you can craft, as of one of the early patches. The requirements for attempting repair are that you must be no more than 10 ranks below the lower of the item's optimal rank and the recipe's rank.

On the other hand, you cover some features everyone has been asking about for a while and pointed out some problems with the UI that haven't gotten a lot of attention lately, so Like! for you.

Right! Thank you for the kind reply and +like. I will remove those off the list now as they seemed to be fixed, I just wrote this out of plain thought so I might have missed the local leve thing. I hit the cap on "maximum" letters, so leaving those off will make room for future additions. I'll add your name to the kind list then too /cheer.

I updated the threads bazaar & interface section with new additions. Oh and if a mod happens to read this, would it be possible to move this thread into the general English forum? Would be neat!

Some very good ideas there, and what would probably cover a years worth of content in patches. I hope to see at least some of them make it into the retail game, mainly the bazaar/auction house/UI/transport ones. The rest I can live with

Also you get a thumbs up from me

Personally I don't have a problem with putting time limits on Regional Leves. Granted, time limits haven't really been a problem for me, but I generally avoid the 4 and 5 star difficulties.

Furthermore, this is something that will help SE avoid situations where a group of people attempt to accomplish something great in a very stupid and inefficient way. Such as we've seen in FFXI with the '18 hour Pandemonium Warden fight' where people were putting their health at risk to try and complete a difficult task.

Some really good suggestions in there. Thanks for taking the time.
    Interface/Options/Gameplay:

    - Ability timer fix: Timers aren't holding their job together, an ability/spell should be ready, timer has already ran out, but when trying to use the ability or spell, you only get a message saying "Ability/Spell cannot be used now" ..so there's no way to tell when the ability is really ready.
Yes. For some reason, the countdown goes: "3 [pause] 2 [pause] 1 [pause] 0 [pause] [pause]" and then you can use it. Zero should mean there's no time left. And why is there an extra pause on zero?
    - Multiple action bars.
    Yes, please.
    - The option to toggle action bars visibility on/off. Not just show them "when triggered" an ability.
Yes. It's annoying when I'm fighting multiple mobs, want to cast Cure on myself, and the mob dies, so the action bar is no longer up. I've got to find the 2nd mob, click on it, click on it again, and then I can cure myself.
    - The item list response times are still slow, as to when swapping items from retainer to character etc.
Yes. There's about a 2 second period after you give an item to your retainer that you've got to wait before you can click on anything else.
    - Erronenous clicking while trying to sell items. Even if I do click on a certain item, it will ghostly click on the item next below in list.
Wow. I thought this only happened to me.
    Bazaar:

    - Merge retainer bazaars or create an auction house that covers up all the worlds need. Everyone is residing in Uldah atm, and probably don't give a hoot about putting stuff on sale in other cities. It's too much of a trouble to browse all cities bazaar areas. Or if this is "too good" then at least make it so that the bazaar search would cover up all cities.
Yes. When I'm shopping for a new bow, I've got to travel to all 3 cities before figuring out that nobody is selling it. It would be nice to just travel to the city that has the bow in stock, or just know that no one is selling it at the moment.
    - Overhaul of the bazaar search system. Make it more useful at least and add in the planned keyword search.
Keyword search would be great, rather than searching through a byzantine maze of menus for an item you want. For example, where would you find a Sunrise Tellin (an oyster/clam thing that you get from gathering and is used in making Sea Sand, Lightning Crystals, and a Conj wand). Answer -- the Tanner's Ward. Wha--? I would have no idea where to find those if I didn't look them up on 3rd party sites.

Here's another test. Let's say you're looking for Flax (a plant you get from gathering that's used to make Linen Bowstring, Linen Yarn, and Flaxseed Oil).

Well, the Grocer's Ward includes "Grains." But it's not there. The Chirurgeons Ward includes "Reagents" and "Oils." But it's not there. Tinkerer's Den has "Sundries." But it's not there.

    Answer -- the Clothier's Ward.

So the menus and categories are not always intuitive, and it can be difficult to find things. And since there aren't complete lists of everything in those categories, if the item isn't being sold, you never know if you're actually looking in the right place.
    - Fix the "hit a yellow mob, get less skill points" problem.
This drives me the most crazy when you're doing a leve where the mob flees. Since the run often takes more than 20 seconds, it disengages from combat, and you get less SP for killing that mob. This has to be a bug, right? Surely they didn't design the leve knowing you'd get nerfed SP.
As I understand it, for every star you add, the mobs go up 5 levels.

The problem is that you don't get any benefit from killing a mob over 10 levels above you. So if the mob is 10 levels above you at 3 stars, there's really no reason to run it on 4 or 5 stars.

I'd add to your list -- There are currently NMs that aggro placed right in the middle of where you need to go for leves and behest. Alux is a pretty prominent example of this. Two night ago, while I was re-arranging my Macros to update my gear and abilities (/sigh), I ran two behests in Mun-Tuy. Both behests required you to fight mobs in the same room as Alux. Since I was soloing/duoing them at level 29, I got killed almost immediately after entering the room. And since the Battlewarden was in the room with Alux, I couldn't quit the behest. So I just died a few times, then waited at the crystal for 20 minutes to run out.

Then I ran my first leve. Which required running between different groups of mobs. Two of those groups were on either side of Alux's room. And every time I ran through the room, I got aggroed and killed.

Those leves and behests are basically broken because you placed an aggroing NM in the same room as them. Please move Alux somewhere else.

You had some really nice ideas listed, and I hope the dev. team gets a chance to check this thread out. Adding gear sets would be an added bonus. Or even making it so that you could keep the gear equipped while it's getting repaired. Weavers would function as de facto tailor's.
