    Additional Jobs

So we talk about the idea of implementing new jobs once patches start rolling in but has anyone considered how this would be done? My issue is that any new jobs will pretty much start out at max level if you have another job that shares the base class at max. Say you have warrior at 50 and they add dark knight that needs 30 mrd and 15 thm. Once you unlock it, your drk would be 50 instantly. Seems like an odd way to go about it.

I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas about how they could prevent this from happening.

When jobs were first implemented in 1.0 and people already had classes at 50 this is how it was. You still had to do the quests to unlock the job, abilities, and armor though.

Like Inaaca said, you'd still need to unlock the job abilities and do all the job quests before being able to consider that job 'done'. There's also the matter of practicing the new job a lot so you can get a feel for how it works. I don't think I could allow myself to jump into endgame stuff with a fresh job without playing it in lower level content first.

I see this being an issue as well. It might not be so bad if they released jobs for existing classes alongside new classes with dual jobs like Arcanist.
So for example the next class patch they add DRK, DNC and RNG jobs for existing classes but also add a new gun class with two jobs. Then the next patch they do the same with new jobs for the rest of the classes and another new class with two jobs.

This is exactly why I see this being an issue. People jumping into things without even knowing how to play their job. It's like people that buy maxed out accounts but have no clue what they're doing. They become a detriment to the group.

Not to mention you don't actually get to level your new job, which is kind of lame. I know not everyone enjoys leveling (and neither do I at times as it can be a grind, especially after finishing the story) but part of the fun of playing a new class is doing dungeons and unlocking gear and learning your class as you level it. That's pretty much thrown out the window with the way the system is currently designed.

Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't comin' back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.

I would imagine they would put quests in that would teach you the job skills before you can unlock your armor.

And it is a bummer you can't level your job, but I guess if you really wanted to you could make a new character for that.

Yeah, they could do that, but it's not quite the same as learning how to use the skills effectively in a party setting.

I guess I'm just disappointed that the jobs are essentially handed out at max level. Well...potentially that is, haha. I still have no idea how they will be implemented.
