    Ever increasing lag

Can anyone tell me what is the cause of this lag?

When i am by myself, with NO other players within sight, my in game ping is what it should be for my distance from the game servers.

However, with a few players nearby my ping shoots up a couple thousand.

My Tracert is 100% normal, my manual ping times are also normal in the command box. But in game, it is so bad that red zones are completely unavoidable when other players are near by. I cannot figure out why it does this, but whenever there is NOBODY else around, i can leave a red zone a fraction of a second before it lands and it completely misses me.

Yet, with only 3 other players nearby in a dungeon group, avoiding red zones that specifically land on me is all but impossible, regardless how fast i move. Hell, i can be moving in a straight line when it lands on me, and i STILL get hit by it.

Yet this does NOT happen when i am alone.

I do 25 man raids in WoW, fill the entire screen with players in Aion, Tera and Guild Wars 2 - without the slightest hint of lag. I have really good internet - otherwise 25 man raids would be impossible. Oh and I am a healer in all of those games - yet ive never experience this much lag.

An example - Just idling in New Gridania, near the Aetherite crystal - 1600 ping. 20 seconds later in my inn room - 50 ping.

What i dont get, is that i can log out from 1600-2000 ping Final Fantasy XIV ARR, log into WoW and do a 25 man raid in 200-250 ping (normal ping from Australia), jump on over to League of Legends, do another few games in 240 ping, then do a few matches in Mechwarrior Online without the slightest bit of trouble hitting Light Mechs.

Then after all that, go back into FFXIVARR and get 2000 ping again.

And yet NOBODY has the slightest clue as to what causes it, let alone how to FIX it.

The most response i ever get is the standard response ''I dont have a problem''.

I just hope you don't mouse over that thing in UI that shows the amount of data you're sending or receiving ? :P

While in game press ALT+TAB then ALT+R type resmon. You should see the resource monitor now. Go to the network tab there should be ffxiv.exe in TCP connection then look for Latency column

Also you can PING and traceroute to NA/EU datacenter, in Resource monitor you will have IP of your server.

    Umm yeah.

The latency is blatantly obvious when I heal someone and it takes a second to actually increase their health, mounting up on my Chocobo and immediately hitting autorun only for the mounting to stop movement, and finally my total inability to avoid red zones despite easily moving out of them WELL ahead of the finished cast time.

And still, nobody has any idea what causes this.

    It's an increasingly common issue.

I'm trying to consolidate info about it here:

Thanks. At least SOMEONE gives a crap about those who are not enjoying a perfectly fine XIV experience. Majority of the responses i always keep getting are ''its not happening to me so it sucks to be you'' kind of rubbish.
