Titan HM and DPS

I'm getting ready to try and start Titan HM which is the last piece I need for my relic weapon. My question to all you Titan HM veterans, is a Ifrit or Garuda weapon extremely necessary?

I'm playing on SMN, and I've been farming for Ifrit weapon as its a lot faster than Garuda, and I've lost the weapon twice now. At this point I'd really just like to try and finish relic weapon, if I had mostly DL gear on and used a GC weapon for Titan HM is that acceptable?

Extra DPS is always useful though, farming Ifrit isn't particulary hard. I did it as DRG in Ifrit weapon and it wasn't so bad, I could definitely feel the DPS of my friends with Garuda/Relic weapons out classing my own though.

Basically it helps but I wouldn't say it's neccessary. Every extra bit allows for greater speed of killing/more survivability/more margin for error, which can mean a lot on Titan.

As Dark said, Ifrit and Garuda weapons will help, but they are not required. We killed titan HM a few days ago with 1 tank, 2 healers, and 5 dps. 1 Healer and 2 dps had GC weapons, the rest had Ifrit/Garuda.

I'd say Ifrit is required but Garuda isn't. Although it helps. Just make sure you have at least 3,100hp as a SMN.

I would strongly recommend spending the time to pick up your weapon from Ifrit. While survivability is key to beating Titan, so too can be DPS. If you cannot kill his heart in time, its GG. And if you have several people in your group deciding that they should be fine with GC weapons, chances are, you won't be killing his heart. Not that it cannot be done with a GC weapon, but you will be relying on other DPS to pick up a little bit of slack on your end.

Depends on your composition - 5x DPS puts less strain on each individual DPS, for instance.

I recommend you using your time to practice. GC weapon has same Dmg as infrit. Titan fight isn't Dmg check but an experience check. Poor gear only cause you hard to find a group.

So, so wrong. Aside from heart mode being on a timer, every time he repeats the final stage (as seen in NyneAlexander's signature), his stomps do one more stomp. This means that if your DPS is low, he'll repeat his rotation several times and the stomp becomes unmanageable, not matter how much HP and cure spam you have. tl;dr: Titan is a huge damage check. (he's also a dirty whore)

He just wants you to BREAK YOURSELVES UPON HIS BODY, and FEEL THE STRENGTH OF EARTH!

But yes, dps is important, HOWEVER, the caveat being, everyone being perfect dodgers is more important.

If you find a group that can dodge every single mechanic, you are golden 99% of the time unless they are just horrible at managing their dps/healing while dodging.
