Should SE add more music to the game?

I just finished listening to the FFXIV soundtrack and there are so many as yet unused songs on the soundtrack.

FFXIV's music gets repetitive pretty fast, even themes like Twilight over Thanalan get repetitive. So perhaps SE should look at adding some variation to the themes. Or add two themes per region to split up the tedium. The soundtrack shows that there are many songs waiting to be used.

Yes they should, its very annoying and I blame how maps are designed. They also dont put songs into some places like Cassi/nana that could use them, and they have the same damn track running all over Thanalan its very boring.

I just ended up replacing a bunch and then muting.

I don't mind the no music regions, its meant to set a mood, much like some cave areas in FFXI such as Cnest IIRC. Anyway, I agree, they need to redesign some maps or at least change the music a bit between transitions within a single region. Like the area over at Dry Bone should have a different soundtrack than that near Horizon, etc.

typically 1 zone 1 song. It can get messed up if they had 2 tracks because it would glitch on what to play. Every videogame is like this.

Do you ever learn!? (like I even need to ask).

As there are already multiple songs per zone which do not glitch, I find your comment hard to take too seriously.

One good thing about Shadow of the Colossus is that it had variable music that changed according to what you were doing at the time, while still maintaining its musicality. Example: If you were losing a fight or if you were winning a fight, the music would change to reflect it.

I think Uematsu is too much of an artist to implement something like that, and it's too late now anyway, but having a constant theme song to reflect the entirety of a mammoth zone is just not enough. One song per huge zone does not suffice and gets repetetive. There needs to be variations to the main theme to reflect the different areas within the zone that you travel, or new themes entirely. And songs that shuffle. Just anything to break the monotony.

It's pretty much a given that they will add more music to the game, as they add zones, encounters and so forth.

@Kilta: It's not 1 zone 1 song. Each zone actually has 3: Theme, battle, guildleve.

Correction: 1 zone, 4 tracks: Theme, battle, leves and City track considering its in the same zone.

I think new music via new zones simply isn't enough. The game is designed to keep the player in one zone for the whole play session during which you hear 2 tracks over and over again. The sound design needs to be changed to take this into consideration as repeating the same problem in new areas isn't going to help at all.

    Agree.
Need 2 tracks, or variations of one, per region at least and some parts of the same map should have sound effects only.
