For the love of god, PLEASE do something about the spammers!

This is getting insane.

How hard is it to implement a messages per minute limit?

I just zoned into Ul'dah to have not one, not two, but three spammers filling up my chat box. This game has been out well over a month now, and it seems like this issue hasn't even been addressed, aside from a small 'protect your account' message.

Its a really frustrating feeling knowing the amount of spam that's going to fill my screen before the town even loads.

I know how you feel. Whatever it is SE has to address this obnoxious problem, I hope it comes sooner than later. This constant spamming and annoying random Tells is pissing me the &$@! off

Yeah. I feel like the gilspammers own Ul'dah. Every time I've gone in there, I have to spend five minutes b'listing the papasmurfin' bastiches.

Yeah, and i find it funny that we are so limited here on the forums yet they dont do anything with all the spamers in the game...

Yeah they are so annoying, the ones that private message you you can add to ignore list but you will fill it up pretty quickly, the others you can do something about. Most of them SHOUT it in local chat so go to edit channel tab and click shout off and you wont see them anymore. At least that gets rid of lot of it. However they do need to add the function where you right click name and add to ignore, that will help.

Well.. their /shout got to me finally.. I snapped and begining to text msg my LSmates to their handphones, advertising my services.

Next I'll probably knock their doors. (>_>

The most annoying thing about this, is that this is not the first time FFXIV has been launched, and this is certainly not the first MMO, or even the first one in a long time...

In short, SE should have seen the insta-influx of RMT and had something pre-planned to tackle it.

Can only agree... Already a week ago, I turned of shout/yell from my most used chat tabs, and created a single chat only for shout, wich I only use while I'm in Revenants Toll, where most lv 50's shout for AK/HM runs.

And I'm running around with "Busy" status most of the time aswell, to avoid the bloody annoying RMT tells.... Give me a damn option to choose if I want to recieve tells from friends only, or people who I've actually sent a tell to, automaticly allowing them to send a tell back to me.

Totally agree with people noting that SE had plenty of warning this was going to happen, both from the V1 era but also their long (and largely successful eventually) war against RMT in FFXI.

They seem to have implemented NO anti-RMT mechanics at all, NO easy easy way for player to report spamming and botting and NO way for players to filter the crap. Hell, SE added a 'block chat flagged as spam' into FFXI at least 3 years ago in not a lot more yet they didn't even TRY to do it in XIV.
