Blacklisting and spammers

They need to fix the problem with these damn spammers. I'm sick of them.

1. You shouldn't need to type the name to blacklist, you should be able to click the name and blacklist. Also not only just the character. But the whole account you won't see messages from them again.

2. There should be a spam filter, where only so many messages should be sent in a time period.

Now now, don't complain saying how will I talk to my friends in chat. Well for one thing, you should not be sending that many messages within that time period. So it should not apply to you.

That is all, PLEASE! SE you need to do something about them.

I agree with this something needs to be done walking into Ul'dah i had to block 7 spammers that were shouting and 1 yelling and another who whispered me.

I came to the forums to make an identical post. Its actually out of control. my /shout chat is basically useless and really hindering the communal aspects of this game. There is an absolute bombardment of spammers in all channels really. Ive heard SE had a special task force for this but it only seems to be getting worse. This NEEEEEEDS to be addressed.

same i dont know what you doing squarenix but if this going to be a payed game you really gota crack down on this gold farmer quick im not about to go on with paying for a game with this many gold spams in game when i can look at some free mmo's out their that have no gold spams at all

I believe the issue is going to be resolved, just put yourself in their shoes. You go through the thousands of reports naming off the hundreds of thousands of RMTs, some reports are naming the same player, investigate each RMT, and block their IP. It's hours of work that can't be handled in one work shift.

I'm sure the RMT Task Force exists in FFXIV, and because they exist, it issues a challenge to the GilSellers. This is a war Square-Enix is fighting compared to what I witnessed in FFXI. The GilSellers are going through greater lengths to destroy the game, lose player interest to the game entirely, and damaging Square-Enix's product and profit. As a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise, a customer to the game, and a force for good, I am doing all I can to aid Square-Enix in this fight.

I agree. It would seem that a right-click block option and adding a limit to the number of posts within a given time frame in public channels would not be very difficult to add. I can't believe they don't have it already.

You can highlight and cntrl-c then cntrl-v to copy and paste names for the blist also you can make a macro to block anyone that wispers or /tell to you it goes something like:

/blist add <r>

I can't log into the game right now due to a 3102 error to double check so the spacing might be incorrect but otherwise it works to block the last person that sent you a /tell

Blacklisting should be an option when clicking on a name in the chat window.

Also, I think if more than say 5 people (unaffiliated with each other) block a character in the space of 5 minutes, that person's whole account should be shut down.

This page if for suggestions, not ranting. SE is well-aware of the problem, so ranting is unnecessary. As for a suggestion, here's one:

ISSUE- Gil sellers usually take long names consisting of random letters, making is very difficult to report them properly. In addition, those who spam in /tel can be anywhere in the world.

SUGGESTION: Make it so that one can right-click the name of the spammer and be taken directly to the Report Cheat form, with the name of the spammer automatically filled-in. While it would be impossible to say what zone they were in, you could provide all the other information.

In addition, it would be nice if you could right-click the same and have the option to blacklist them appear. That way you would get relief while SE was looking into the problem.

There is indeed a macro for Blacklisting the last person that whispered you. All you'd have to do is click the Ok to confirm said person is who you wish to add to your blacklist. As UncleBob posted - The macro command should be:

/blist add "<r>"

On A Side Note:

DEAR SE,
WE the players would like to voice our concerns over the flood of RMT tells and especially the serious chat flood in Shout and Yell from RMTs have completely gotten out of hand. This is highly true for the City-States. It's honestly to the point that some of us have completely had little choice but to turn off Shout and Yell. At times it's so bad we can't even shout or yell for a Raise for a fallen ally. It's to the point we're getting frustrated and annoyed. At this rate we're all going to need bigger Blacklists ._.
