    It looked awesome, though.
I went there and, if my memory serves, I got a "You cannot proceed any further" message. Chances are the maker of that video either hacked his way through or simply did it a lot earlier on when SE may not have had the barrier in place to prevent entry.

Back on topic, and this is coming from a geologist, whether or not Limsa would be affected by O'Ghomoro's eruption would depend greatly on a number of factors, including weather, luck and what kind of volcano O'Ghomoro actually is. She's probably a Sicilian-type. With the legends of the water level once being much higher, this suggests the island having once been completely underwater and formed by limestone deposits before a sea-level drop. The volcano then pops its head out from underneath and goes bang with a lot of explosive ash. Less lava to worry about - it's the pyroclastic flows and ash fallout that Limsa would want to look out for, which can be blown in their direction by unfavorable winds. Even if lava did reach them, it would likely sizzle in the ocean.

Although, this is a game - the designers probably didn't focus on perfect Geology when designing it so anything could happen if O'Ghomoro erupts.

I believe the only proper response to this post is, "Cool story bro."

Good read dude. I would like some sort of 'realism' when they make events and stuff though..

Have all of you forgotten the first cutscene we see when we make our characters? I'll be logging in in 2 hours to witness the end of the hatching tide and fraps will be running just in case.

Good read, indeed. We can only hope SE puts some thought into how they plan to use Mount O'Ghomoro.

There are mountains between LL and Iron Lake, which is why you have to run east or west to get to it rather than straight up. This suggests that the distances we're covering are miles, then you've got the distance from Iron Lake to the volcano. It just seems unlikely that lava flows would travel that far to reach LL. They couldn't travel straight down either, they'd have to pass down Skull Valley or Bloodshore and then curve round to reach LL. This wouldn't happen because there's no terrain that would force them to curve round, they'd just flow straight off the cliffs south of Skull Valley or Bloodshore. I could see Aleport or Wineport getting hit by one however.

    All possibilities. Here's another one:
The volcano may not even erupt in it's current cone. If the volcano is hot-spot related (typical of Hawaii-style volcanos), the earth may have moved over the top of it. If so, the path of least resistance for the lava could be somewhere unsuspected like, say, Bearded Rock for example. Disaster!!!

Although having the existing formation go bang would be so much more dramatic and we must never underestimate the value of a well-designed cinematic...
