Simply unacceptable service for EU players

I play the game from EU and it is simply mind boggling that I am charged for playing this game with the current service... or rather lack of it compared to what other players of other regions are playing.

First off. Maintenance is on EU prime time. And right now we get maintenance every few days.

Secondly. Very bad delay affecting the gameplay to make is simply one of the worst experienced I have had with MMO. I had this once before when I played LOTRO from US severs and its exactly the same. And thats why the LOTRO servers are located in EU now.... And everything plays fine.

Examples of how it affects gameplay in EU. Character is moving and then stops and casts ability. 0.5 sec later you get the "chancel" effect cause according to the server.. the character was still moving. This gets really annoying in combat when you have to move alot and you litterally LOOSE 0.5 sec to react and cast abilities.

I can not imagine many players from EU that will bother paying a sub for this game beyond the first month. This is way to serious to ignore and act like this delay is not affecting the very core of the game at this point would just be silly.

Quite frankly.. I would not play FF14 for free with its current server related delays that are affecting the gameplay for me as player and EU. And Im pretty close to the servers compared to rest of EU.... And to think that players from EU are charged the same as the rest... is simply disgrace.

If it makes you feel any better - I have the same lag problems and I'm on the east coast of the US I've also stopped playing even though it's free - but I keep checking the forums hoping to see something encouraging.

However I don't think that moving the datacenter to an EU location is going to solve this problem specifically.

Many of us in the US, even those in Canada who are right in the datacenter's back yard are having issues with brutal lag spikes and disconnections, leaving the game barely playable. If you hunt around in the forums a bit you can see the many, many posts about it.

To be honest, 99% of the lag complaints I've read on here are in not from EU players, and the severe lag is generally not caused by any specific distance from FFXIV servers.

Moving the datacenter to EU would lower the load on the current NA datacenter and make the game playable for ppl in NA. I do not expect it to happen tho. But then.. I dont expect more than 1 FF14 server running in 6 months time for EU players. Its simply that bad and totally unacceptable.

Well put Deadanon,

This is a massive problem at the moment, I already have linkshell members leave/become inactive because there is no point playing on a server on the other side of the world. Not only the really bad lag but we don't even speak their primary language!? Also down to the time zones there's no one around for server parties which makes boss fights (such as Hydra) impossible. It's a JOKE they are charging us for this already when the frequent disruption of maintenance is still present to top it all off. Well done Square Enix, if your intention is to piss off the few fans you have left you are doing a bloody good job!

/signed Yeah and for the last 1,5-2 weeks during peak hours game is just unplayable due to the lagspikes. Sigh...
